Ritu picked up her little pink bag Sheput the postcard inside She put a pencilinside too She felt very important Ritu felt very grown-up And just a weebit scared what if Bageera the dogchased her But Ritu was very eager to post theletter So she left for the post office thatwas just four buildings away

After taking a few stepsRitu stopped and took out the letterShe could not read Grandparsquoshandwriting very well She tried toremember what Grandpa had read Then after the word that she thoughtwas lsquoTumkurrsquo Ritu wrote lsquoPLEECErsquoHappy with her work Ritu walked on

After she had reached the next building Ritu stopped and took out the postcardonce again What if Pooja Aunty did not realise how eager Ritu was to see Mani SoRitu took out her pencil again and wrote lsquoPLEEEESErsquo

Finally Ritu reached the small post office There was a red post box outside the postoffice Ritu could not reach the mouth of the post box even if she stood on her toes

She walked boldly up to Uncle RameshHe took the postcard from her andsmiled ldquoSmart girl Now run back toyour house carefully I shall make sureyour letter reaches your auntyrdquo But Ritu did not run out She saw UncleRamesh pick up a pen and scribblesomething on the card Then he gave itto the postman who was stampingmany letters with the postmark

Dhhum dhhum DHHUM he poundedon the letters When he saw Ritusletter he stopped Then he smiled Hepicked out a pencil from behind his earand wrote something on the card

Five days passed The postman broughta letter to Grandpa Grandpa read itwith a smile ldquoRitu your aunty says shewill send Mani here day-after Let meread out the letter Dear FatherhelliptarararadatadadadadaI am sending Mani tomorrow He willreach Tumkur on Friday I think Ritumust be very eager to see him Yourletter was very interestinghelliprdquo

After taking a few stepsRitu stopped and took out the letterShe could not read Grandparsquoshandwriting very well She tried toremember what Grandpa had read Then after the word that she thoughtwas lsquoTumkurrsquo Ritu wrote lsquoPLEECErsquoHappy with her work Ritu walked on

After she had reached the next building Ritu stopped and took out the postcardonce again What if Pooja Aunty did not realise how eager Ritu was to see Mani SoRitu took out her pencil again and wrote lsquoPLEEEESErsquo

Finally Ritu reached the small post office There was a red post box outside the postoffice Ritu could not reach the mouth of the post box even if she stood on her toes

She walked boldly up to Uncle RameshHe took the postcard from her andsmiled ldquoSmart girl Now run back toyour house carefully I shall make sureyour letter reaches your auntyrdquo But Ritu did not run out She saw UncleRamesh pick up a pen and scribblesomething on the card Then he gave itto the postman who was stampingmany letters with the postmark
