Avanti was the zookeeper of Pitara zoo There were many many animals in Pitara but Avantis best friend was Ballu thebear Ballu was big brown and strong On his fourth birthday Avanti organised a little party for Ballu

ldquoBallu can you blow out all the candles at oncerdquo Avanti asked

ldquoOf courserdquo said Ballu He filled his chest with air He huffed and puffed and puffedand huffed and went ldquoWHOOSHrdquo

The blast of air blew the candles out Then rising up it crashed into the clouds inthe sky And all of a sudden there was was a roar of thunder and it started to rain

ldquoHey itrsquos raining fishrdquo Avanti shoutedBallu looked around with wonder Then he picked up a huge basket and ran aroundcollecting fish as they fell from the skyEvery time the basket filled he dropped the fish in a little pond and ran back formore

Then as he was rushing for the tenth time to the pond he turned back The waterlevel had risen and he could see that Avanti was scared

Ballu came back quickly picked Avanti up and placed her on his shoulders Avanti put her arms around Ballus neck and thanked him

Soon the clouds disappeared and the sun came out It was bright and cheerfulonce again

The illustrations in this book were created as part of the6FrameStoryChallenge an online campaign run by PrathamBooks to build a rich bank of illustrations for StoryWeaver Theessence of the 6FrameStoryChallenge was to tell a good storyusing just 6 illustrations

The campaign inspired nearly 70 illustrators to donate their timeand skills to Indiarsquos first open-source story-publishing platformfor children What started out as an experimental campaignsoon blossomed into a carnival of art birthing nearly 500 newillustrations

These wordless narratives cut across language barriers openingup a world of possibilities encouraging StoryWeaverrsquos growingcommunity to dream up multiple stories around these imagesThe 6FrameStoryChallenge is a powerful reminder of the needfor collaboration to get closer to our mission ldquoA Book in EveryChildrsquos Handrdquo
