• OnFebruary7,2019,theAutismCARESActof2019wasintroducedinCongressbyRepresentativeChrisSmithandSenatorBobMenendezofNewJersey.ThelegislationcontinuesprogramsoftheAutismCARESActof2014,provisionsofwhichwillexpireonSeptember30,2019.Specifically,theAutismCARESActof2019:

• Reauthorizesdevelopmental disabilitiessurveillanceandresearchattheCentersforDisease ControlandPrevention• $23.1millionforeachoffiscalyears2020through2024

• Authorizesautismeducation, earlydetection, andinterventionprogramsattheHealthResourcesandServicesAdministration• $50.599millionforeachoffiscalyears2020through2024

• AuthorizesresearchattheNational Institutes ofHealth• “suchsumsasmaybenecessary” foreach offiscalyears2020through2024

• AuthorizestheInteragencyAutismCoordinatingCommittee (IACC);

• RequirestheSecretaryofHealthandHumanServices(HHS)toprepareareportonthehealthandwell-beingofindividualswithautism.
