1 TheAA150isaropeandchainorchainonlyrodecounter.Itdoesnotcontrol thewindlass.Atoggleswitch,deckswitchorhandheldremoteisrequiredto operatethewindlass.
2 TheAA150canbefittedtomostverticalwindlasses.Ahorizontalwindlass mayrequireasensorholderoracustomdesignedsensorwhichisnot includedinthestandardpack.CheckwithyoursupplierortheAutoAnchor manufacturer.
3 TheAA150shouldonlybeinstalledbyaqualifiedmarineelectrician.Donot attempttoinstalltheAA150unlessyouaresuitablyqualified.
4 TheAA150mustbefittedtoawindlasswithadualdirectioncontrolboxor solenoidpack.
5 InformationforinstallationandoperationoftheAA150issuppliedincluding presetwindlassprofilelistsandwiringdiagrams.Allinstructionsshouldbeleft onboardfortheowner.
6 NoncompliancewiththeinstructionscouldimpairthewindlassandtheAA150 operation,andcouldresultinpersonalinjuryand/ordamagetotheboat.

2.1 MAGNET ANd SENSOR INSTALLATION
PLEASE REAd BEFORE COMMENCING INSTALLATION
Correct magnet and sensor installation is critical for successful AutoAnchor operation. TheAutoAnchorcanbeinstalledonverticalwindlassesandmosthorizontalwindlasses.Installationdiffersdependingonthewindlasstypeandontherode(all-chainorropeandchain).Please follow the instructions for your windlass and rode. IfitisnotpossibletocomplywiththeseinstructionspleasecheckwiththeAutoAnchormanufactureroryoursupplierforotheroptionsorifyouarenotsurehowtoproceed.

2.1.1 MAGNET INSTALLATION OVERVIEw
Check before starting: yourchainwheelmaybeprefittedwithamagnetorpredrilledreadyforyoutofitthemagnet.
Magnet Polarity: NotrelevantwhenusingthegreyAAsensor(#9067)orareedswitchsensor.Ifretrofitting,usingtheblackAAsensor(#9008)thesouthpole(markedside)ofthemagnetmustfacethesensor.
Magnet Seal:Insertthemagnetintotheholeandcoveritwithaminimumof1mmofepoxytoprotectitagainstcorrosion.
Magnet Size and Position: Refertotheinstructionsforyourspecificwindlasstype.
2.1.2 SENSOR INSTALLATION OVERVIEw
Vertical windlasses: Thesensorisfittedinthedeckplate.Somedeckplatesarepredrilledforthesensor.othershaveadimpleormarktoshowwherethesensorshouldbefitted.Ifthewindlassisnotfactorydrilled,drillahole10.3mm(13/32”)diameterthroughthewindlassdeckplate.Seetheinstructionsforyourspecificwindlasstype.
Horizontal Windlasses: Sometimes it is not possible to fit the sensor to a horizontal windlass or it may need to be fitted by the windlass manufacturer. Before starting check with the AutoAnchor manufacturer or supplier that it is possible to fit the sensor to your windlass. You may need a special fitting.

2.1.3 PLUG ANd PLAy SENSOR CABLE
TheAutoAnchorplugandplaysensorextensioncablemustbeusedtoconnectthesensortotheconsoleunit.
Ensuretheconnectorsarefirmlyscrewedtogether.
The warranty does not apply if the sensor cable plugs are removed.

2.1.4 REEd SwITCH SENSORS
Somewindlassesaresuppliedpre-fittedwithareedswitchsensor.Reedswitchsensorsmusthavea10mmx8mmmagnet(#9061)andthegapbetweenthereedswitchsensorandthemagnetmustbeaminimumof3mmandamaximumof5mm.Thissensorwillrequireafieldconnector.
TheAutoAnchorwilloperatewithareedswitchsensorforall-chainrode.Ifusingrope/chainrodethereedswitchsensorprovidesareasonablyaccuratecountofrodedeployedbutonretrievalthedisplaymaybeincorrectbecauseitcannotallowforthestretchintherope.
Foranaccurateropeandchaincount,thereedswitchsensorshouldbereplacedwiththeAAgreysensor(#9067).

The sensor may be fitted inside the windlass or you may need a sensor holder (Part #9070). Often the sensor and magnet can only be fitted by the windlass manufacturer.

2.2 CONSOLE UNIT INSTALLATION1.ChooseapositionwheretheoperatorwillbeabletoseetheanchorandwindlasswhenusingtheAA150.
2.Theconsoleshouldbemountedonaflatsurfaceatleast3ft(1m)awayfromanyequipmenttransmittingorcablescarryingradiosignalsegVHFradios,cablesandantennasorradarantennaandatleast6ft(2m)awayfromanySSBequipment.
3.Theconsoleshouldbemountedwhereitisprotectedfromtheelements.TheAA150issplashproofandshouldnotbeplacedinapositionwhereitislikelytobeimmersedinwater.
4.Thepanelformountingtheinstrumentshouldbe3mmto19mm(1/8to3/4inch)thick.Thespacebehindtheinstrumentpanelmusthaveadepthofatleast95mm(3.7inches).
5.Drilla50mm(2-inch)holeintheinstrumentpanelintheselectedlocation.
6.Withthemountingbracketremoved,inserttheinstrumentintotheholeuntilthebackofthefaceplateisflushwiththeoutsidemountingwall.
7.Slidethebracketoverthebodyoftheinstrument.Note:orientthebracketinsuchamannerthatitdoesnotcoverthebuzzer.

Before starting check with the AutoAnchor manufacturer or supplier, that it is possible to fit the sensor and magnet to your horizontal windlass.
Foranaccurateropecounttherodemustrunbetweenthesensorandmagnet.OnahorizontalwindlassthemagnetandsensormustbefittedbytheoEMwindlassmanufacturer.
Ifitisnotpossibletohavethesensorandmagnetfittedtoachievethisyoucanusethechainonlyhorizontalwindlassinstallationabove.This provides an accurate count of rode deployed but during retrieval the display may be incorrect because it cannot allow for the stretch in the rope.
2.1.8 INSTALLATION HORIZONTAL wINdLASS - ROPE & CHAIN
2.2.1 Multiple Console Unit InstallationTwoAA150consolescanbeinstalledtoprovidemultiplestationsortheAA150canbeinstalledwithotherAutoAnchorproducts.AllwiringformultipleAutoAnchorstationsiscolourmatchedandruninparallel.
AT-adaptorand2mextensioncableareavailablefordualinstallations.Refertothewiringdiagramand/oryoursupplierfordetails.
All cables must be connected.RefertotheWiringDiagrams.
Interlockprotectionisincludedinthesystem.Donotfitdiodesorinterlockdevicesasthesewillpreventthesystemfromoperatingcorrectly.
Allbatteryandmotorcablesmustberingtype,insulatedtopreventshortcircuitsandinstallednocloserthan1ft(300mm)awayfromthesensorhead.
Allmainpowerconductorsandterminationsaretobeinstalledaccordingtothewindlassmanufacturer’sspecifications.SealterminalsagainstmoisturebysprayingwithCRC[3013]SoftSealorCRC[2043]Plasticoat70.Insulation must be used to protect allInsulationmustbeusedtoprotectallterminals.
Toreducethepotentialforinterferenceallcablesmustbelocatedatleast1.5ft(500mm)awayfromanyequipmenttransmittingorcablescarryingradiosignalsegVHForSSBradios,cablesandantennasorradarantennas.
Donotleavecableshangingloose,theymustbetiedinplacewithcableties.
Multiple Console wiring:Itisimportantwhenwiringmultipleconsoleinstallationsthatpotentialdifferencesdonotoccuralongthegroundconnection.Thiscancauseincorrectcounting.Ensureconsolesarestargroundedandthattherearenootherhighcurrentpathsbetweenconsoles.All wiring for multiple installations is run in parallel. Refertowiringdiagramsforfurtherdetails.

2.5.3 CONNECTION TO LOw CURRENT wINdLASS dRIVES
WhenconnectingtosolidstateswitchingorotherlowcurrentwindlassdrivesegPlCorACvariablefrequencydrivesadummyresistorload(Part#9515)mayberequiredtoprovidesufficientloadingandtomeetEMCandsafetyconsiderations.Theresistorpackshouldbeinstalledclosetothewindlasscontrolnot on the AA150.
Seethenotebelowrewiringformultipleconsoleinstallations.
Fordualconsoleoperation,thesensormustberesetbeforecalibratingtheconsoles.Todothisclearthecountertozerotwice.Pressandholdanybutton.TheAA150willbeepandclearwithin4seconds.rEwillbedisplayedduringthesecondclearingindicatingtheresetisokay.

4.1 INSTALLATION, SET UP ANd TESTING
Before the AA150 is used it is must be set up for the windlass and rode on the boat and tested in a calm, safe environment. Use the windlass to raise and lower the anchor. If the AA150 does not count, or any diagnostic messages appear on the screen, refer to Troubleshooting (Part 5), your supplier or the AutoAnchor manufacturer for assistance.
PART 4 USING THE AA150
4.2 OPERATION
TheAA150isautomaticallyturnedonwhenthewindlassispoweredup.WhenthewindlassisoperatedtheAA150displaysthelengthofanchorrodedeployed.Theunitwillrememberthesettingsenteredandthecountevenwhenthepoweristurnedoff.Itwillalsobeepduringretrievaltowarntheskippertheanchoriswithin1.5metres(4feet)ofdocking.
Ifcountinggreaterthan99.9metresorfeetthedisplaywilldropoffthedecimalplaceanddisplayonlywholemetresorfeet.

Notes when Anchoring
TheAA150helpstomakeanchoringlessstressfulbutnothingcanreplacegoodseamanshipandsafeboatingpractices.when anchoring:• use the windlass strictly according to the windlass manufacturer’s instructions;• personally control and supervise all windlass and anchoring operations; • maintain a clear view of the windlass, rode and/or anchor during windlass operation; and • always ensure the anchor is fully docked and secured before moving the boat.
4.3 CHANGE BACkLIGHTING LEVEL (Thisisbestdoneinlowlight).
Tapeitherbutton/toadjustthelightlevelupanddown.Thereare4lightlevels.
4.5 RESET FACTORy dEFAULT SETTINGS
This will remove your individual set up.
Turnthepoweroff.Pressandholdbothkeystogether +whileturningthepoweronagain.ReleasethekeyswhenthedisplayreadsFCt dEF. Thiswillrestorethefactorydefaultsettings.Now re-enter the set up for your unit. Refer Part 3 of this document.
4.4 RESET dISPLAy TO ZERO
Pressandholdthekey.TheAA150willbeepandthedisplaywillclearto0.0within4seconds.
PART 5 MAINTENANCE
TheAA150doesnotcontainanyuserserviceableparts.usermaintenanceislimitedto:• Checkingallcablesandconnectionsforsignsofwearordamageandreplacingthem asnecessary.• Checkingthesensorheadisnotwornandhasnotmovedoutofalignmentand replacingthesensorifnecessary.• Checkingthemagnetisnotwornorcorrodedandreplacingthemagnetifnecessary.
Note: Donotusechemicalorabrasivematerialstocleantheconsoleunit.Ifitisdirtywipeitwithacleandampcloth.Avoidwipingthedisplayscreenwithadryclothasthiscouldscratchthescreen.

Theorangewiretotheupsolenoidisnotconnected.Fixthewireconnectionandresetthecountertozero.
NosignalfromthesensortotheAA150.Eitherthereisnomagnet,thegapbetweenthemagnetandsensoristoobigorthesensorsignalisoutoftunebecauseoftestingduringinstallation.TryresettingtheAA150byrunningthewindlassupanddownfor10-15seconds.Ifthemessagestillappearscheckthemagnetandthegapandalignmentbetweenthemagnetandsensor.Checksensorwiringandinstallationandcheckfordamagetothesensorandmagnet.WhenfixedresettheAA150asabove.Formanualreset,clearthecountertozerotwice.Tocleartozeropressandholdanykey.TheAA150willbeepandclearwithin4seconds.rEwillbedisplayedduringthesecondclearingindicatingtheresetisokay.
