Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA)
• Sudden loss of heart function
• Victim collapses, is unconscious, not breathing and without circulation
• Death is imminent without rapid defibrillation

SCA - What it is
• The heart has a unique electrical system that keeps the heart muscles pumping in rhythm, which delivers blood to the body. Heart

SCA & Ventricular Fibrillation
• When the heart’s electrical system is interrupted or malfunctions, the heart beats abnormally fast and chaotic (a condition known as ventricular fibrillation)
• Heart cannot pump blood to the body
• Victim collapses SCAVentricular Fibrillation
