What’s an AutoTweetUp?AutoTweetUps are social meets for active tweeters interested or involved in the automotive industry. Attendees range from premium manufacturers right down to tweeters who are just ‘car nuts’ with everyone covered in between. During the events people chat and get to know each other, put faces to names and do a bit of business.

Give me some numbers! So far there have been two AutoTweetUps organised by us, both had capacity for 50 people and both were fully booked up. At our second event in Covent Garden we had around 60 people turn up. On the night tweeters reached over 10,000 people with around 20,000 impressions contributed by our tweeters. During the following day the reach climbed up to almost 15,000 people. In total the three days around the event saw almost 500 tweets under the tag #AutoTweetUp.

What’s it going to cost? There are various options which can be tailored to the different event types. Overall sponsorship of the event ensures exclusivity with no other sponsors involved apart from possible goody bag contents, or we can offer part sponsorship whereby other brands will also be associated to the event. These are the packages on offer:

Title sponsor: £1,000AutoTweetUp sponsored by XXXXXXExclusivity, links and coverage via website and Twitter, logo on all collateral, tagged in all tweets regarding the event from AutoTweetUp account. Area to have a display about a specific product aswell as cars. Post event statistics on coverage.

Standard sponsor: £250Links and coverage via website and Twitter, space for car to be displayed (depending on venue) logo used where possible and occasional mentions via our Twitter feed as well as a full report on Twitter coverage post-event. Option to brand or add items to goody bags.

EXPOSURE DURING AN EVENTThis graph shows the amount of people exposed to #AutoTweetUp tweets during an event. Total exposure was 20,804, with a reach of 9,541 people.

Who’s behind it?After discovering Twitter and its powers, Tim Hutton set about creating an event to help automotive brands tap into the powerful vein of Twitter’s influential automotive users.

Coming from a background of design and events in the premium automotive industry and also running his own website means Tim has an understanding of what works and what is needed to get the best out of events. With over 10 years’ industry experience, contacts and ideas are forthcoming and the AutoTweetUps look to go from strength to strength as they evolve in 2012.

Event historyThere are four types of event: car meets, socials, brand specific and seminars. The first event held in September was a car meet and had a fantastic turnout including a rare appearance of the Lexus LFA supercar. For the second event Covent Garden was the venue and whilst car parking was at a minimum the Twitter activity and chat was off the scale.
