    Autumn SlouchAn Injenuity Design

    Special Stitch Explanations:

    Crossed dc (Crossed Double Crochet): Sk 1 st, dc in next st, dc in skipped st working over the front of previous dc.

    Crossed dc Increase (Crossed Double Crochet Increase):Dc in next st, dc in same previous (already worked) dc in the same manner

    as the crossed dc.Round 1: Make an adjustable ring, ch 3 (counts as first dc), work 11 dc into ring, sl st to top of ch 3 to join. 12 sts.Round 2: Sl st in next st, ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in previous (joining) sl st, *crossed dc increase* around, finish with a crossed dc

    increase working in beg st of round, sl st to top of ch 3 to join. 24 sts.

    Round 3: Sl st in next st, ch 3 (counts as first dc), 2 dc in same sp, *sk 1 st, 3 dc in next st* around, sl st to top of ch 3 to join. 36 sts.

    Round 4: Sl st in next st, ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in previous (joining) sl st, *crossed dc increase, crossed dc* around, finish with a

    crossed dc increase working in beg st of round, sl st to top of ch 3 to join. 48 sts.

    Round 5: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in same st, sk 1 st *3 dc in next, sk 1 st, 2 dc in next st, sk 1 st* around, 3 dc in last st, sl st to

    first st to join. 60 sts.

    Round 6: Sl st in next st, ch 3 (counts as first dc), dc in previous (joining) sl st, *crossed dc* around, sl st to first st to join. 60 sts.

    Round 7: Sl st in next 2 st, ch 3, dc in same sp, sk 1, *2 dc in next, sk 1* around, sl st to top of ch 3 to join. 60 sts.

    Rounds 8-15: Repeat rounds 6-7 4 times for little to no slouch. For more slouch, continue for 1 to 3 more repeats, or until ha

    reaches desired length minus the band height.Round 16: Ch 1 (does not count as st), hdc in each st around, hdc in (joining) sl st, sl st to first hdc to join, ch 1. 60 sts.

    Round 17: Sc in each st around, sc in sl st, sl st to first sc to join.

    Rounds 18-19: Repeat rounds 16-17 once more. For taller band, repeat up

    to three times. Fasten off.

    Materials: 125-150 yds of worsted weight yarn H/8 crochet hook (or size needed to

    obtain gauge)

    Gauge: Approx. 6 sts x 4 rows in dc = 2 or1st 4 rounds = 4in diameter

    Sizes: Adult S (20Circum. For a larger circum. go up a hook size or two)Difficulty: Beginner/Easy

    Time to complete: 1 - 3 hours

    Notes:You can substitute the Adjustable Ring with: Ch 4, sl st to 1st ch to form a

    ring.

    You can modify the amount of slouch by following directions found at Round 8.

    For sample hat, I used 1 skein of Peaches & Crme cotton yarn in Paprika, and I

    had just enough to complete the hat without any additional repeats.

    Autumn is my favorite season. I love the rain, the color of the falling leaves and pretty much everything else that comes with

    the fall season. So, I just had to design a fun hat to wear while enjoying the brisk days of autumn, or any other day of the year
