Believe and AchieveIt is difficult to believe that we are only three weeks into this school year. The children have settled in fantastically well and have already got so much learning to talk about. As a school, we couldnt be prouder. We had our first weekly Jigsaw celebration during our assembly on Monday and it was lovely to hear so many examples of how others had been made to feel welcome by the children at our school. There were many happy and proud faces in the hall listening to all of the mentions being given throughout the school. This week, we have been focusing on making our school community a better place. Next week as a school we will focus on everyones right to learn. We have also started our values assemblies with this weeks focus being on re- sponsibility and what that means. As a part of this, the children have been thinking about the things that they are already responsible for and things that they would like to be responsible for – there were some fantastic ideas! Mr. Campbell will be back in school next week and I know he will be looking for- ward to seeing everyone on Monday morning. “Believe and Achieve” It is difficult to believe that we are only three weeks into this school year. The children have settled in fantastically well and have already got so much learning to talk about. As a school, we couldn’t be prouder. Clubs – Letters with details of our autumn term clubs are currently being prepared and will be coming home shortly. Clubs are due to start Monday, 7th October and run for 6 sessions. When choosing clubs parents are asked to remind children that clubs are a commitment and that they should make sure that they understand the activity – if they are unsure they can ask the member of staff running the club. Nut-free School Can we take the opportunity to remind parents that we are a nut-free school. This includes hazelnut and any chocolate spreads that contain hazelnuts. Could you please make sure that any sandwiches and snacks do not contain nuts. As well as this being school policy at all times, we do currently have children in school with nut allergies. Thank you for your support in this. Harvest Festival We would like to thank Revd Coles for presenting our Harvest festival assembly and Mrs Betley for supporting the children with their singing. A well done to all the children for completing Harvest art-work and singing so well (artwork will be added to the school website shortly.) Our extra special Harvest Assembly treat was to see the FS2 children all dressed as farmers. A huge thank you to all parents who donated to our Harvest collect for the community. FS2 Farmer’s Day FS2 have had a fabulous week learning all about the harvest festival. We’ve made clay hedgehogs, au-

tumnal sun catchers and planted seeds to name a few of this week’s activities. Thursday was a high-

light to this week with everyone dressing up as a farmer. Great work, FS2!

Year 2 Beach Visit Year 2 had a fabulous trip to the beach to celebrate our first topic ‘Beachcombing’. The children had lots of fun making sand pictures, playing beach games and of course beach-combing, where they collected various pieces of litter and found lots of interesting sea crea-tures, shells and stones. Thank you to the PTFA for providing us with some money towards our ice creams and a big thank you to the volunteers who also came on our trip. SSAFA BFC Young Achiever Awards 2019 - Design a Poster Competition SSAFA are inviting children and young people aged 5-18 years based in the British Forces Cy-prus community to put their art and design abilities to good use, to produce a poster to promote the annual SSAFA Young Achiever Awards 2019. The closing date for the competition is Friday 1 November. Please see the attached flier at the end of the newsletter for further infor-mation about how to enter this competition.

Heads up: non uniform days coming up As a school we support some chosen charities which we identify at the beginning of the academic year. This term, there will be two non-uniform days where we ask the children to bring in 1 euro to support charities. Friday 4th October - ‘Red, White and Blue’ Day. • Red, White & Blue Day is a national fundraising campaign that raises money in support of ABF

The Soldiers’ Charity, the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund, and The Royal Navy and Royal Ma-rines Charity. At Ayios Nikolaos we are proud to always support this day. We ask that chil-dren wear red, white and blue clothes in any combination on this day.

Children in Need • An exact day is yet to be confirmed as we might (fingers crossed and don’t tell the kids yet)

be having a visit from the real Pudsey Bear on a rare trip to Cyprus. We are hoping it will be in the week commencing 11th November. Visit this web page for ideas! Our theme for the year is yet to be decided!
