• To define and analyze the fluid dynamics, heat transfer and mass transfer. Fluid dynamics involves the transport of momentum, heat transfer deals with the transport of energy, and mass transfer is concerned with the transport of mass of various chemical species.

• To understand that these three transport phenomena occur simultaneously in industrial, biological, agricultural and meteorolog-ical problems; in fact, the occurrence of any one transport process by itself is the exception rather than the rule.

• To understand that transport phenomena is most important for its physical significance. The basic equations that describes the three transport phenomena are closely related. The similarity of the equations under simple conditions is the basic for solving problems "by analogy".

This program enables students to have a hands on experience with an engineering project during one semester and at the end make a formal presentation of the outcomes and findings of the project (like in the real world). Past project have included building a water filter, water pump, a robotic hand etc. Students will be able to choose from a list of available projects.
