Available Light Images - Photography HBEN Member Profile How long have you been in the Port Macquarie Region? Other than a short stint in Sydney in the late 90's and early 00's, I have lived her all my life, born in the old Port Base hospital. How long have you been in the photography business? Photography has run through my veins since high school (late 80's & early 90's), I was the school magazine photographer in year 11 & 12, and I did work experience via St Joseph’s Vocational Collage where I also did my HSC. What inspired you to become a photographer? My father was always talking about amazing birds on our dam that he tried to photograph. My Mum was always noticing the little things around her and was amazed by the natural world we lived in. Growing up on a farm where I could see the sun rise and set and my parents love of what was around us created an appreciation for our natural environment and I am passionate about wanting my images to wake up an appreciation for life and the little things within the people around me. Being able to capture a moment in time that may have been missed or forgotten otherwise, is just the most awesome feeling and to share that is such a wonderful feeling. Is there another photographer’s work that inspires you? To many to name, I run a group for photographers and enthusiasts alongside Scott at Sunset Gallery, Printing & Framing, we started the group with the aim of creating a community of photographers in the Hastings and it has grown to encompass Photographers from up and down the East Coast of Australia and they all amaze me, inspire me and motivate me. My old TAFE teacher Warren Scott has always held no punches with me and tells me honestly what he has thought of images and he inspired and motivated me in the beginning and taught me so much about photography. What type of photography do you specialise in Cherie? Photography by Available Light Images will cover Wedding Photography, Portrait/ Commercial Photography, Landscape/Seascape/Fine Art images on canvas, all other local images to canvas or traditionally framed images. A no nonsense style of wedding photography means you get to enjoy more of your day and spend less time posing and more time laughing and having a great time! It’s your day, your occasion I believe in capturing it as it is, as it happens. I do Wedding photography packages to suit all budgets. What inspired you to join the Hastings Business Enterprise Network (HBEN)? I would like to be a part of a wider community, to both learn and grow within myself and my business but I would also like to help others in business in any way I’m able. We are a small but growing area and we have so much to offer, I believe only a small portion of what the Hastings area’s potential is being utilised and I’m passionate about growing the community as a whole and believe being a member of the HBEN is a way to help do that.
