12.30 – 13.30 Lunch

13.30 – 14.00 Lead, Follow, or Get Out of the Way: Global Consolidation in the Labels Industry Thomas Blaige, Chairman and CEO, Blaige & Company Utilizing proprietary research over the past decade, Tom Blaige will discuss the impact of global consolidation on the labels market. With approximately 55% of the top 50 plastics & packaging companies having undergone a change in ownership, or having been eliminated over the past 12 years, Blaige will cover valuable strategies to help label company owners understand and “win” in today’s mergers and acquisitions market.

14.00 – 14.30 The US’s Transformed Industry: Still Full of M&A, Conversions, and Fight Gregory Rudder, Editor, PPI Pulp & Paper Week An ongoing and significant consolidation and M&A drive transformed the US pulp and paper industry over the last 15 years. Today, this means far greater segment capacity is in fewer hands as US firms focus on lower energy cost, supply and demand balance, and appropriate mixing of commodity and niche products, including machine conversions out of low-demand to sustaining-demand segments. These changes occurred against an unprecedented 15% and 15-million -ton paper and board capacity decline since 2000 in the USA as well as while China became the world capacity leader.

14.30 – 15.00 Global Polyolefins Market and Pricing Outlook Remko Koster, Director Polyolefins Europe / Africa, IHS Chemical The global polyolefin markets are changing rapidly. The Middle East expansions are followed by Chinese coal-to- polymers and North American shale-based investments. What are the consequences for the European polyolefin producers and converters? And what does this all mean for the regional price trends for polyethylene and polypropylene?
