FROM THE COMMITTEE

2015 COMMITTEE

2015 marks the 15th anniversary of the Limestone Coast Wine Show and a return to our newest GI, Mt Gambier, for the Awards Dinner.

This year will also herald a change, as Andrew Wigan retires Jane Faulkner steps up to the Chairmanship. We would like to thank Andrew for his efforts and wonderful support of both the show and region over the years.

As always a notable International Judge will be a member of the Judging Panel, and this year we welcome Singapore’s leading wine educator, Lim Hwee Peng.

In order to reduce the paperwork pain of the Individual Vineyard entries, this year we will begin a Individual Vineyard register. If no changes have occurred to your label or grape sourcing for an individual vineyard entry, we will keep the paperwork for three years regarding your entry. Please take careful note of the changes in the regulations.

This year we again have an amazing line up of Judges and some classic vintages in the spotlight which promises to deliver fierce competition for the week’s accolades.

We as a Committee would like to thank all the Exhibitors for your continued support, and wish you all the best for this year’s show.

7. Entries in the Museum classes 34 & 35 shall be commercially labelled & dressed as well

as bear the Wine Show label supplied. The Wine Show label should not obscure the

commercial labels if possible.

8 (a) There will be a trophy for the Best Individual Vineyard Wine. For an exhibit to be

considered as INDIVIDUAL VINEYARD it shall be from a NAMED single block or

vineyard clearly referred to on the commercial label (front or back) that reflects

the link between site and label. The individual block or vineyard shall be a

single site continuous and defined. The wine shall be 85% or greater from this

site. For an exhibit to considered a FORM2 per exhibit shall be completed with

the required documents submitted by post or email.

(b) PLEASE NOTE - returning individual vineyard exhibitors may opt to use the

VINEYARD REGISTER, whereby documentation shall be submitted at least once

every three years, if no significant changes have been made to the wine label

and/or vineyard block as defined on the label. If significant changes have

occurred, paperwork as for 8(a) will be required. A different vintage year will

be accepted.

9. Exhibits are to be packed in cartons clearly stating the exhibitor’s name and class

numbers in that carton. The wine show committee will supply bottle labels, detailing

class number, entry number, vintage and varietal composition and whether the

wine is bottled or not.

10. Any entries not paid for, incorrectly labelled, or received outside of the allocated

delivery period will not be included in the judging.

11. All exhibits become the property of the Limestone Coast Wine Show.

12. A wine shall only be entered once in the show.

13. There is no limit to the number of entries, per exhibitor, in each class.

14. Judges shall not at any time prior to the announcement of results have access to

the identity of exhibits.

15. Only wines that win Gold medals shall be eligible for trophy selection. The

exception will be for the International Judges Award (see Regulation 16).

Wine Show ‘15’16. There will be an International Judges Award. Any labelled wine entered in the

show is eligible for this award. The International Judge will determine the criteria for

selection. The philosophy is to award a deserving wine that shows excellence but

would not necessarily achieve status in the existing judging and trophy structure.

The award will be presented along with the trophies and in similar fashion.

17. There will be an opportunity to enter small batch wines. Small batch is where a

maximum of 1350L (150 dozen) were produced and a minimum of 25 cases are in

stock at time of entry. These will be judged with the regular exhibits and in the regular

classes. If a wine is entered as small batch at time of entry, it is not eligible for any

trophy other than the small batch trophy. The Stand Alone TROPHY for Small Batch

wines may be given to the best wine that exhibits something new or innovative or

is simply excellent. Small Batch wines shall not be entered in the Museum classes

(classes 34 & 35). Only gold medal wines are eligible for this Trophy.

18. Judges will use the standard 20 point scale, with results published for all wines.

Tank samples or unbottled/unfinished wines will receive points only and are not eligible

for medals or awards trophies.

19. The most successful exhibitor trophy will be awarded to the exhibitor who has

acheived the highest aggregate score, from their top five or less scoring entries.

No more than five exhibits shall be included for the calculation for this trophy. Non-

bottled wines points and Museum Classes 34 & 35 are excluded from this.

20. Minimum litres per class as listed: (at time of entry)

* Although judged with the regular classes, exhibits entered as small batch will only be

eligible for the stand alone small batch trophy.
