The NOFI Current Buster® 6 is the latest version of the NOFI Current Buster® technology system. The technology ensures superior cleanup, also in current, due to its high Speed Through Water (STW) capabilities. Where conventional booms lose oil at approx. 0.7 knot STW, the NOFI Current Buster ® technology collects oil in up to 5 knots STW. The high STW enables the NOFI Current Buster 6 to easily collect oil in situations with coastal and tidal currents, wind-driven surface currents, wave currents and most other current phenomena normal at sea. The high STW also eliminates the errors made by many operators - where currents are misjudged and oil lost. The improved hydrodynamic shape allows the system to effectively collect oil in larger waves. The new model incorporates debris nets, wave dampeners and splash-over cover. Together with the optimized shape of the separator, it stabilizes the movement of the separator and the liquids in the 65 m³ temporary storage area. Improved water outlet design allows the water to escape easily from the separator as it gets filled with oil; in addition it also allows the system to be deployed and recovered both ways. The NOFI Current Buster 6 is normally operated by a single vessel with a BoomVane and will operate around 10 times *) faster than a conventional oil boom. Thus, the NOFI Current Buster Technology is most likely the most cost-efficient oil recovery system on the market today measured both in money, personnel and vessels. *) Currents change continuously during an oil boom operation and there must be a buffer or an allowance up to the failure (oil loss) speed of the oil boom. A buffer of 1 knot is recommended for the Current Buster 6 giving an operational speed of 5 knots -1 knot = 4 knots. Assuming a maximum speed of 0,7 knot for a conventional oil boom and a buffer of 0,4 knot gives the following values. 4 / (0,7-0,4) = 4 / 0,3 = 13 times greather operational speed. Consequently a buffer of 0,2 and 0,6 knot gives 8 and 40 times greather speed. NOFI CURRENT BUSTER ® 6 Pat. L650 - G - 520 Rev. A 24.01.13 NOFI Tromsø AS, P.O. The NOFI Current Buster® 6 is the latest version of the NOFI Current Buster® technology system. The technology ensures superior cleanup, also in current, due to its high Speed Through Water (STW) capabilities. Where conventional booms lose oil at approx. 0.7 knot STW, the NOFI Current Buster® technology collects oil in up to 5 knots STW.

• Collects oil in up to 5 knots speed through water.

• Hydrodynamic shape with wave dampeners ensures optimal performance in wave conditions.

• Single-vessel towing (one boat) with BoomVane**) lower operational cost and resources needed and offering unique manoeuvrability - regardless of currents or weather.

• Will still clean up the oil when other oil spill barriers fails due to current, wind and waves.

• Multipurpose system suitable both for inlet, coast and offshore use.

• High effective area coverage.

• Open separator system allowing debris to be removed easily and provides easy access for pumps and visual inspection.

• Debris collection system, reducing risk of clogged pumps.

• Approx. 35 tons temporary oil storage (Gross 65 tons).

• Suitable for any type of oil without any adjustments.

• Up to 2 m thick oil layer in separator allowing most types of pumps to be used.

• May be deployed and retrieved in both directions.

• Low towing resistance.

• Compact and manoeuvreable therefore suitable for operation in darkness.

• May be operated independent of a mother vessels, e.g. moored in a river or handed over to a vessel of oportunity.

• May be operated after a puncture due to the large number of independent air chambers.

• Compact storage. The NOFI Current Buster® 6 can be supplied in a 20’ container including reel, power pack, pump (skimmer) and BoomVane.

The ultimate oil spill cleanup tool!
