NOMINATED BY: An Anchor Club or a sponsoring Pilot Club

The one winning entry from each district is then submitted to Pilot International Headquarters for international competition with a postmark deadline of April 15th.

THE NOMINATION SHOULD CONSIST OF: The nomination needs to consist of the AAOY Entry Form and the Judging form, along with the permission form for sending the nomination on to International competition. The entry form must have four essays of 300 words or less attached to the entry. These essays should include specific reasons or proof why the advisor stands out among many others. Also include photographs (no more than 3 in each A, B, C category) of your Anchor Advisor with club members or at your service projects supporting the reasons listed in the essays. The key is to show your Advisor in action & demonstrate why they should be Advisor of the Year. The Permission Form must be included with the nomination. The nomination itself should be bound in some type of holder whether it is a three ring binder or a simple folder. The nomination should demonstrate creativity and originality! The nomination must be for the Anchor Advisor, not the sponsoring Pilot Club Anchor Coordinator. The winner of the award may only win the award for two consecutive years.

INTERNATIONAL WINNER: 1st Place is featured in the PILOT LOG and is invited to attend and receive a certificate at the Pilot International Convention. Pilot International pays registration fee and travel to the PI Conference. Second and Third place winners are also featured in the PILOT LOG.

PURPOSE: To recognize successful advisors and their tremendous contributions to the Anchor Program.

Outstanding Anchor Advisor of the Year Entry Form

Purpose: The award recognizes an Anchor Advisor who has worked with the Anchor Club to promote community service and the ABC’s of Pilot.

It is highly recommended that you read through all directions and the application BEFORE beginning the assembly of the club’s entry as there are several important changes. Overall, judges will be looking for entries to showcase quality and excellence in specific criteria in club and international projects including fundraising and hands-on service, club leadership and operations, Pilot Club or other sponsor involvement, community visibility and recognition of the club and activities, and leadership development in club members.

To help you in your submission you may want to appoint a committee to: Study the form and judging criteria

Note: Judges consider quality rather than quantity of projects as well as involvement with sponsoring Pilot Club; and the Anchor Club service focus

Organize and document all activities of your club Make sure dues are paid; Club, District (where applicable) & International

Brainstorm ideas for the entry with club members, advisors, and sponsoring Pilot Club Put entry together using the unique talents of clubs members (see criteria for entry

below) Submit entry by District deadline to District Awards Jury Chair The permission form must be included with the forms and documentations.

For Texas District Award, documented activities should be from January 1st through December 31st. The one winning entry from the Texas district is then adjusted to a time frame of March to March and submitted by the club advisor to Pilot International Headquarters for international competition with a postmark deadline by April 15, 2019.

A representative is selected from each District Anchor Club of the Year to represent the club at the Pilot International convention. Registration fee is paid by PI for the representatives of the winning clubs. Winners of the international competition are recognized at the International convention.

Anchor Club of the Year Entry Form

Purpose: The Anchor Club of the Year Award is given to the Anchor Club who shows quality and excellence in club and international projects including fundraising and hands on service, club leadership, and operations, Pilot Club or other sponsored involvement, community visibility in recognition of the club and activities, and leadership development for club members. Requirements: 1. The form/entry MUST be completed by the Anchor Membership, with minimal assistance of the advisor. 2. Entries may be electronic or a booklet. If the submission is in booklet form the entry size must be no

larger than a 1 ½ inch booklet with the opening of the book not expanding more than 1 ½ inches. If the book measures more than 1 ½ inches while lying flat, untouched and free of binding materials, then it will be disqualified. All papers must be attached in the book; no loose papers allowed. The

3. The items must be in the order as specified on Page 3 of the Entry Form. For each item found to be out of order, 3 points will be deducted from the total.

4. For Anchor Clubs in Anchor Districts, Clubs must submit the entry for District judging by the deadline set by the District. The Sponsoring Pilot or Pilot Club should communicate this information to the Anchor Club(s).

5. Mail the completed District winning entry to Pilot International Headquarters. It is suggested that the entry be mailed using a method that can be tracked like FedEx or UPS.

6. For Anchor Clubs in Non-Anchor Districts, the clubs must send their entry directly to Pilot International Headquarters.

7. Entries must be postmarked/emailed/uploaded to [email protected] by April15th or mailed to Pilot International, 102 Preston Court, Macon, GA 31210.

8. Electronic entries are to be zipped and emailed to [email protected] or uploaded to a file sharing application such as Dropbox or Google Docs. We highly recommend using electronic return receipt feature for emailed entries.

Pilot International requires Anchor Clubs to participate in our organizational initiatives by performing both hands on community service and fundraising in our areas of focus. The ABC’s of Pilot are: “A” Youth Development & Leadership “B” Brain Safety and Fitness “C” Caring for Families in Times of Need

Anchors are also highly encouraged to promote and participate in our own Pilot/Anchor Projects and Initiatives that further Pilot ABC’s. These are International Care and Kindness Week, Pick Me Ups, BrainMinders, What Were You Thinking?, TBI Camps, Safety Fairs, Bike Rodeos, etc.

Timetable: Scrapbook must document activities from Jan. 1st through Dec. 31st

and should be a chronological record of all of the club’s activities.Mechanics:

This is not an award; it is the means to enhance your club’s efforts. Proposals are for currently planned projects and /or activities. The project or activity must relate to leadership and/or service opportunities for Anchors. The project/activity should benefit a maximum number of Anchors within the club. You must demonstrate how the project or activity strengthens the bond of Anchor members. The project/activity should relate to a District Focus, i.e. Brain Related Disorders, if possible. POLICIES AND RULES OF TEXAS DISTRICT PILOT INTERNATIONAL ANCHOR SCHOLARSHIP

1. The Texas District Pilot International Anchor Award contest shall be conducted under the direction of individual contest chairmen chosen by the Texas District Pilot DAC for that year. Three judges are to be secured, by the Chairman. Judges shall not be: 1) related to an applicant, nor, 2) be associated with the youth candidates in any way.

2. Application to participate in the contest is agreement by all signatories to the application to comply with all general rules on the contest, as approved and interpreted by the Texas District Pilot DAC and the Awards Committee.

3. Rules of eligibility are:a. A false statement on the entry application causes disqualification of the applicant.b. Each applicant must be an enrolled student in a certified high school or home school, and

must be a senior during the current Anchor year.c. Applicant must be a member of an Anchor Club in the Texas District Anchor of Pilot

International.

4. Receipt of the scholarship shall be administered through the Financial Aid Office of the post high school educational institution upon enrollment. Proof of intent to enroll should be sent to the Texas District Governor prior to enrollment. Uncollected scholarships are forfeited, and the amount will be returned and credited to the Texas District Anchor Scholarship Fund. Scholarships are held in trust by the Texas District until collected by the recipient or forfeited.

5. The amount of the scholarship shall be $500.00.

6. Applications shall be evaluated on a point system.
