X- STRATEGIES

X-1 STRATEGIES PUT IN PLACE TO MANAGE THE IMPACT OF THE PROJECT ON THE ENVIRONMENT Faced with the problem of environmental degradation imposed by industrialization, CAMROOTS SA recommends: 1.The realization of environmental and social impact studies 2.Strict compliance of the recommendations of the socio-environmental management plan 3.The application of the following transitional measures:

An improved Successive cultivation of cassava /fallow, able to soften or even out the residual

effects of pests, diseases and phyto-toxicity caused by the previous crop. Reducing the compaction and soles by the use of less heavy machinery and equipment; The Reduction and the discharge of greenhouse gases through the use of less polluting

vehicles, A wise use of toxic substances during the crop treatments (fertilizers and pesticides) The Recycling of biomass, and dirty water through the production of clean energy (biogas

and electricity) by anaerobic digestion The utilization of technical and cultural practices identical to the agricultural norms The creation of an artificial forest during the fallow period.

COMPONENT 2: DEVELOPMENT OF PRODUCTION SYSTEMS AND SYNERGY DEVELOPMENT OF CAMROOTS SA. 1- The realization of basic studies: i) - environmental and social; ii) - desirability and feasibility; iii) - Tech-

nical and financial feasibility; iv) - baseline

2- Improving production systems

3- Legal recognition of land 4- Design installation and implantation of projects

5- Establishment of economic partnerships with the various players of the sector 6- Environmental protection and biodiversity

COMPONENT 3 : COORDINATION AND MANAGEMENT 1. Strategic planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of agricultural, industrial and com-

mercial operations 2. Management and coordination of projects, 3. Implementation and performance monitoring of rural development and infrastructure activities 4. Research funding

X-2 OPERATING CULTURES AND PRODUCTION STRATEGIES OF CAMROOTS SA.

Set annual land value: 3500ha including 2500ha in industrial exploitation and 1000ha by a network

of small independent producers, federated into cooperatives;

Cropping system: Travelling pure culture

System of crop rotation: Quadrennial type with improved fallow for a period of05years.

Exploitation system: Intensive use of improved varieties with high yield, mechanization of agricul-

tural operations in industrial plantations, and using a high labor in peasant farms

At the agro-ecological level

Agro-ecological conditions are favorable for the cultivation of

R&T At the land level:

The qualitative and quantitative availability of the farmland in 06

regions with favorable agro-ecology As for the map seed,

The availability of 07 improved cuttings varieties with high yields

capable of supplying 100HA seed field In its commitment of the rural communities in the project

Voluntary provision of land and family and Associational labor

workers

Membership, commitment and determination, and the commun-

ion of the rural communities with the project In terms of technique:

Mapping studies of accuracy of production ponds have been
