Chicago Trip postponed until spring semester

For those of you who were planning on going on the field trip to Chicago:

Due to low numbers, the trip to Chicago to visit the city planner has been postponed until next semester. Stayed tuned for more information on when it will be rescheduled and thanks for showing interest in the trip. We apologize for the inconvenience of this change.

Bake Sale RecapWe’d like to thank all of you who helped

bake and man the table for AWC’s fall semester bake sale!

Stationed just inside the Beering lobby on Wednesday, November 11th, AWC set up shop and sold cookies, puppy chow, rice crispy treats, muffins, as well as other tasty treats. With one day’s work we were able to raise a good amount of money, and it was all thanks to your dedication to the organization. (as well as some hungry Purdue Students!)

Spring Preview:What’s in store for AWC

With the semester winding down, AWC is gearing up for next semester. Our spring callouts will be here before you know it, not to mention our first chapter meeting and upcoming philanthropies. Here’s a look at what AWC has in store for the upcoming months as well as some opportunities for our members to get involved!

January 21st and 28th: Spring callout dates. (Members do not have to attend callouts). Please spread the word and tell your friends who are interested in joining next semester.

Some special events we have planned are: Relay for Life, Go Red for Women, a trip to Chicago to visit a city planner, and a company visit to Indy.

There will be applications for the Sarig Scholarship next semester. This scholarship is awarded annually to a member of the AWC Purdue student chapter by the Lafayette Professional Chapter in memory of founding member Frances Sarig.

Exec interviews will take place at the end of next semester. If being a part of our board is in your plans, make sure to stay as involved as you can!

We look forward to seeing you ladies at the Christmas party and back here next semester with all your friends!

Boo At The Zoo: Halloween Helpers Step into Action

On Wednesday, October 28th, seventeen AWC members met at the parking lot of Ross Ade Stadium dressed up as pumpkins, cowgirls, ghosts and ghouls to participate in the annual Boo at the Zoo at Columbia Park.

The program started at 6:20pm. Volunteers were divided into different groups for different games. Giving out prizes for the fishing for pumpkins game, volleyball games and dressing up as the characters in the Disney stories, we travelled back to our childhood with these little kids.

Under the starry night, there was a party for children in Neverland in Columbian Park. Although it was quite tiring standing for nearly three hours, the smiles on the children’s faces made it worth it. We were surprised that so many kids came with their families that day, and they really enjoyed the night.

There were about 600 volunteers for the Boo at the Zoo. Compared to this number, what we did was so little, but we actually brought a fantastic night for the kids. Trick-or-Treat, candies, fairy dust…all this will be kept in our memories with AWC members. We are glad that so many members came to be volunteers. It was a blast. Rock on AWC!
