CONCEPT: Lady Alien
Celestial Chocolatier’s identity is to be innovative and experimental with 16-30 year olds being the target audience. Inspired by the elegance and movements of chocolate sauce, the interior suggests forms of an exotic female alien from a far-off galaxy. The space is contemporary while slightly surreal and futuristic. The alien’s abstract form is a combination of the elegance of flow and elevation with the odd fluid forms common to sea creatures. This combination adds a sense of dynamic energy. The colour scheme revolves around vibrant reds and blues. Alien and intricate patterns work to spark a sense of curiosity and the mysterious.

In a land of concrete, skateboarders express themselves through movement. They scan the environment and determine where best to initiate their next jumping and landing moves. While there are endless possibilities, they achieve their goals by connecting the dots and find the most creative way to weave their way through the obstacles. Inspired by this mental image, the space captures the idea of connecting dots as the concept.
Konnect Skateboarding Center is a contemporary space that has an urban appeal. The goal is to provide a cool, fun, and multipurpose space that also feels welcoming. Cyan blue is used as the dominant accent color to portray the sky. Contrasting with the blue is warm wood. An edgy touch brought to the space includes the use of hits of vibrant colors and an array of brightly hued contemporary furniture pieces to create a fun atmosphere. Repeated anugular lines draw eyes to different areas in the space. Konnect, by promoting connections between activities, aims to broaden the users horizons while promoting individual growth and independence.

Completed in a publishing course at Simon Fraser University. Edgy and
chic treatment of graphics and text entice readers’ s curiosity.
about meIt is my philosophy that all forms of design should be intuitive, allowing a story to unfold within a space and offering visual comfort and pleasure. It is important to me that my designs can spark imagination that will grow and manifest overtime.
My abilities to implement ideas and provide design solutions contribute to my strong foundation in all areas
of design. Through my studies at the British Columbia Institute of Technology in the School of Construction and the Environment, as well as at Simon Fraser University’s School of Interactive Arts & Technology, I have developed the critical eye for space planning and visual design. My long-time passion for multimedia design contributes to the personality of my work. Through interface & prototype design, graphic design and film, I strongly believe that form and function can co-exist.
For a story to be well expressed through designs, I am constantly inspired by the daily activities of the people around me. I keep my mind open to new inspirations and experiences, whether it is going to Celebrities Night Club until 3am or playing tennis in False Creek at 3pm. During downtime, a slice of tasty prosciutto with baguettes and a glass of Malbec can make my day.
The correlation of designs with users always fascinates me. Intuitive
designs require great understanding of a client’s needs and aesthetic preferences. The ability of a designer to view a project from a third person’s perspective ensures the space to be user-oriented, while adhering to the elemental guidelines and designing principles. It is my desire to use my skills as manifested through my studies and travels to design projects that can facilitate a better and more joyful life.
One of my all-time favorite designs is not any high-tech gadget or award-winning designer’s furniture, but the elegance of a simple teapot. In particular, somebody paid careful attention to the shape of a human hand and designed a curvature handle that allows a user to pour a cup of tea with comfort. Not only is the design user-oriented, it carries out its function in an aesthetically-pleasing way - a simple demonstration of the co-existence of form and function.
