  Hello CWI'ers, 

 Here are a few details for our upcoming AWS CWI class.

Class Instructor:  Reggie Thomson

Class Date:  February 28 - March 4  (Yes, it includes all day Friday!)Class exam begins at 12:30 p.m. Friday afternoon.

The class exam takes between 3-5 hrs. It depends on how quickly you do

exams. Don’t plan on leaving class too early and get rushed on thisexam! The exam will be graded before you leave class.

 AWS Exam Date:   March 19 @ New Orleans or  Houston

Class Location:   LaPlace – Quality Inn  (985) 652-5544 

 Daily Schedule:  7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Evening review sessions

 If possible, you should participate in the evening sessions. Those whoare most successful, generally commit the whole week to getting ready for the big exam.

Class Size:  Enrollment is limited to 20 students.

 Hotel Lodgings:  Rooms are available at the hotel. The cost for a room with two doublebeds or a single king is about $69/night (+ tax).

 If you lodge at the Quality Inn, you must make your own reservations.Call Quality Inn at (985)652-5544. When making your reservation,

 please mention that you are part of the MSTS class.

 Meals:  There are numerous restaurants nearby.

 AWS Application: Your certification application must be sent to AWS by February 5. Youcan obtain an application at the AWS web-site. (see below)

 AWS Info:  The AWS website offers some useful information (i.e. application formand required code books). Here's the web-site that takes you directly tothe data. www.aws.org/certification 

Code Books:  The Code books can be purchased through Global Engineering Documents. www.global.ihs.com  See course description posted on ourwebsite for needed Codes. (or check AWS website)

  Pre-Study:  You really need to do some reading and studying before the class.

Spend time reading and studying the Welding Inspection Technology 

book. This will be an intense week, so any pre-study will make your life(and nerves!) a little easier. You’ll also score higher on the AWS exam.

 Bring to Class:  Calculator (one big enough to fit your fingers!), pencils, Code Books,

 straight edge (triangles are great on a couple of charts)  Dress:  Dress is casual, but be sure to bring a sweater or jacket in case the

meeting room is chilly.

Class Cost:  The class costs $900. Please bring check, cash or credit card to class.You do not need to send an early deposit. (We accept Visa and MasterCard; $30 surcharge for credit card payments.)

1) Coming out of Airport, turn RIGHT  on Airline Hwy (Hwy 61)2) Go about 5 miles and turn RIGHT  (north) on I-310 3) Go about 2 miles and turn LEFT  on I-10 West  (toward Baton Rouge)
