Setup of remote access can be a challenge, especially when the AXIS Camera Station server is located behind a routeror firewall. AXIS Camera Station Secure Remote Access simplifies remote access, eliminating the need for manualport-forwarding and router configurations. AXIS Camera Station Secure Remote Access increases the overall systemsecurity level. It enables an easy way to access video from a public Internet location, in a secure, encrypted, waywithout exposing the server or cameras to public access. The service uses multiple levels of authentication to establishan encrypted communication between the PC or mobile device client and the servers in the surveillance system. Theservice will in most cases continue to operate even if network setup is changed, saving manual work.

Secure Remote Access setup

The service is enabled by multiple mediator servers Ⓐ that are hosted or controlled by Axis, an AXIS Camera Station client Ⓑ or mobile viewing app and aserverⒸ can find each other and establish a secure peer-to-peer connection. As a fallback when peer-to-peer cannot be established, the communication isrelayed through the mediator servers.
