• Why do a company project?– Learning experience (different culture, $$,

working on a team)

– Help create new concept, solve a problem

– Employment, resume

• ECpE projects have:– Helped start-ups companies develop first products

– Helped start ISU student spin-off companies

– Created new product offerings, mfg. processes

– Led to hiring of ECpE engineers grads

• What makes a successful projects: engagement

• Companies basically want two things:– New concept, re-design, solve problem – Assess you as potential employee

• ECpE capstones offer the most potential for translating new ideas into working concepts, e.g., – IoT– Data Analytics – A/R– Drones– Mobile-web-cloud architecture

• Agreements are here in PDF form: – https://www.engineering.iastate.edu/capstone/contract-forms/

• Please assign a team member to process the agreements.

• Three possible agreements:1. Sponsor Acknowledgment Form 2. Non-Disclosure Agreement3. Intellectual Property Assignment Agreement

• Professor Zambreno and Carey Novak work together to collect agreements.

• Need agreements completely signed by 10/15/17.

• Every company project needs a SAR.

• Type in project info.

• Company signs and checks boxes for using NDA and IP agreements.

• The signed SAR goes to Zambreno and Novak. Students keep copy.

• Many companies want NDAs.

• Type in project info.

• Students sign.• Faculty sign.• Send it to company, it signs and sends

back to students.• Students send NDA to Zambreno/Novak,

get CoE sign, this is now executed. • Zambreno/Novak return to students.• Students return executed agreement to

company. • Students keep a copy.

• Type in project info.

• Each student signs individual signature page.

• Faculty sign.

• Send it to company, it signs and sends back to students, it’s now executed.

• Each student keeps a copy and send a copy to Zambreno for dept.

• If any issues with companies, please let Zambreno and Novak know.

• Get agreements done, engage companies, use your brains, deliver some cool stuff, and hopefully have fun.
