Hello fellow Key Clubbers,

My name is Alex Culbert, and it is with great honor that I take up the position

of Lieutenant Governor of the Key Club division AYS, or Alaska Yukon South. Our

old LtG, Tahna Lindquist, has officially ended her term. I am ecstatic and

nervous to follow in her footsteps, but plan on doing an amazing job. Many of

you may not have known her, but the work she did in Alaska setting up the

Alaska Rally (which sadly a snow storm ended), and the work she did on the Key

Club policies down in Seattle were phenomenal and beneficial to everyone.

Now, a little bit about me before we begin...

I am currently a junior at Chugiak High School (Go Mustangs!) and have been in

Key Club for two years now. I started out as a lowly sophomore interested in

making a new house key for myself, and fell in love with this program and all it

stands for. This passion led me to run and win the position of President of my

club, and then LtG. My other interests include track and FIELD (I always felt the

distinction between the subtle art of throwing and jumping, compared to

running in circles should be made), Cross Country Skiing, and math. I am looking

forward to a fantastic new year full of service and commitment, and would

appreciate any and all emails (my email is [email protected]), regardless of

content. If you have a question about being a secretary, shoot me an email. If

you want to talk about an epic Viking football victory or the likes, hit me up!

Communication between me and my fellow key clubbers is something I would

like stress, so feel free to email me whenever you would like. I am looking

forward to hearing from you!

~Alex Culbert

P.S. Here’s a little quiz to see if you read any of that…What is my favorite football

team, and why did I start Key Club? Email me your responses to win!

Winter Board: During February I

traveled down to Seattle to get training for my upcoming term!

I met many great new people and learned everything from

updating the membership center, taking the perfect selfie,

and to how to eat soup properly! (Here’s another quiz:

How do you eat soup properly?! Email your responses to win!)

DISTRICT CONVENTION,

OR DCON: Only a few days ago I flew

down to Seattle for the Pacific Northwest’s District Convention,

or DCON as it is affectionately known as. From waking up to

surprise meetings at 6:30 am, to dancing the night away in a

beanie cap, DCON was and will be one of the most memorable

experiences of my Key Club career. Not all of it was fun, me

and the four Key Club members who flew down with me

learned a lot in workshops and ultimately left feeling like a

better human and key clubber! I invite each and every one of

you to start raising money to come join me and the crew, next

year in April!!!

Project Eliminate is a joint Kiwanis

International/UNICEF project to eradicate all

maternal and neonatal tetanus from the world.

Neonatal tetanus comes from cutting an umbilical

cord with a dirty knife, among other things, and kills

one baby ever nine minutes. This is unacceptable.

Please, stand up and fight this battle with all of us.

Last year the Pacific Northwest raised over $19,350.

Let’s raise that number even higher this year!
