There are three main divisions of the book of Revelation, namely the seals, the trumpets and the bowls (vials).

One of the keys to the understanding of Bible prophecy is finding more than one account of the same event where a prediction is repeated in a different way in a different part of the Bible. By taking a few clue

account and finding additional facts from another version, one is able to piece together the meaning much the same as one puts a jigsaw puzzle together. The Bible says that it is the prophets who repeat things

precept upon precept that leads to our understanding.

Isaiah 28:10:10"For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:"

This concept can be illustrated by drawing attention to the fact that the six seals of Revelation 6 very closely parallel the Lord's Olivet Discourse (Matthew 24:1-31). Both speak of

the last days and the second coming of Christ and together add to our understanding of these future times. In addition, we find that in the book of Zechariah, additional information

regarding the horsemen is revealed.

In Revelation Chapter 6, Jesus opens the book of the future, the book of prophecy, which is sealed with seven seals and shows the apostle John the viewpoint of the world from thattime, about 90 AD to the Last Days, the time in which we are now living and beyond.

The first four seals in Revelation 6:1-8 include a white horse, a red horse, a black horse and a pale horse. In addition to Revelation 6, prophecies concerning these horsemen are

also found in Zechariah 1:7-17 and Zechariah 6:1-8. From reading these accounts it appears that the Lord allows periodic sojourns of these spirits into the world to achieve Hispurposes. As the first four seals are opened activities are about to intensify as the group of four is loosed perhaps for one last time. Although the opening of the seals are

consecutive we do not know the time allocation between each nor how the horsemen will carry out their assignments. The breaking of the seals appears to us and John to be brief,but a day being as a thousand years with the Lord may indicate that the time John spends in the presence of the Lord (in the spirit) may be somewhat more than we are accustomed

to.

Revelation 6:1-8: 1I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder, "Come!" 2I looked, and therebefore me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest. 3When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the

second living creature say, "Come!" 4Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make men slay each other. To him was given a large sword. 5W

opened the third seal, I heard the third living creature say, "Come!" I looked, and there before me was a black horse! Its rider was holding a pair of scales in his hand. 6Then I heard what sounded like a voice amliving creatures, saying, "A quart of wheat for a day's wages, and three quarts of barley for a day's wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!" 7When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of

creature say, "Come!" 8I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword

plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.

Zechariah 1:7-17: 7 On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, the month of Shebat, (February 15th 519BC) in the second year of Darius,(515 BC) the word of the LORD came to the prophet Zechariah

Berekiah, the son of Iddo. 8 During the night I had a visionand there before me was a man riding a red horse! He (angel of the LORD - Christ) was standing among the myrtle trees in a ravine. Behind himthe LORD - Christ) were red, brown and white horses. 9 I asked, "What are these, my lord (or sir)(to the angel with whom Zechariah was speaking) ?" The angel who was talking with me (Zechariah) ansshow you what they are." 10 Then the man (angel of the LORD - Christ) standing among the myrtle trees explained, "They are the ones the LORD (GOD) has sent to go throughout the earth." 11 And they (the

reported to the angel of the LORD (Christ), who was standing among the myrtle trees, "We (the horsemen) have gone throughout the earth and found the whole world at rest and in peace." 12 Then the angLORD (Christ) said, "LORD (GOD) Almighty, how long will you withhold mercy from Jerusalem and from the towns of Judah, which you have been angry with these seventy years?" LORD (GOD ) says: 'I will return to Jerusalem with mercy, and there my house will be rebuilt. And the measuring line (Revelation 21:15) will be stretched out over Jerusalem,' declares the LORD (GOD) Al"Proclaim further: This is what the LORD (GOD) Almighty says: 'My towns will again overflow with prosperity, and the LORD (GOD) will again comfort Zion and choose Jerusalem.' groaning under oppression and persecution. Here are predictions which had reference to the revival of the Jews after the captivity, but those events were shadows of what shall take place in the church, after thethe New Testament Babylon is ended.

Zechariah 6:1-8:1

And I turned, and lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came four chariots (divine judgments upon the earth) out from between two mountains (Mt. Zion, Mt.of Olives?); and the mountains were mountains of brass (brass is commonly used as a symbol of divine judgment on sin. The brass serpent set up in the wilderness, (Numbers 21:9)

prefigures Christ crucified as a sin offering and symbolizes sin judged. "And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness even so must the Son of man be lifted up:" (John 3:14). The

brass altar in the tabernacle, which is a type of the cross of Christ upon which our Lord as a whole burnt offering presented Himself, without spot unto God (Exodus 27:2 - KJV). 2Inthe first chariot were red horses; and in the second chariot black horses; 3And in the third chariot white horses; and in the fourth chariot grisled and bay horses. 4Then I answered and said unto the

angel that talked with me, What are these, my lord? 5And the angel answered and said unto me, These are the four spirits (winds) of the heavens, which go forth from standing before the LORD of

all the earth. 6The black horses (famine and death) which are therein go forth into the north country (Assyrians, Babylonians, Seleucids, Romans); and the white (victory and conquest) go

forth after them; and the grisled (death) go forth towardthe south country (Egypt).7And the bay went forth, and sought (wanted) to go that they might walk to and fro through the earth: and he said, Get you hence, walk to and fro through the earth. So

they walked to and fro through the earth. (The bay horse seems to be directing traffic and commanding the others to encompass the entire globe) 8Then cried he upon me, and spake unto me,saying, Behold, these (black and white horses) that go toward the north country have quieted my spirit in the north country. (The red horse, which symbolizes war, seems to stay in Israel

likely because the greatest wars of the Great Tribulation will be fought in this setting.)

This vision may represent the ways of Providence in the government of this lower world. Whatever the providences of God about us are, as to public or private affairs, we should see them all as coming from b

mountains of brass, the immoveable counsels and decrees of God; and therefore reckon it as much our folly to quarrel with them, as it is our duty to submit to them. His providences move swiftly and strongly all are directed and governed by his infinite wisdom and sovereign will. The red horses signify war and bloodshed. The black, signify the dismal consequences of war, famines, pestilences, and desolations. Th

the return of comfort, peace, and prosperity. The mixed colour, signify events of different complexions, a day of prosperity and a day of adversity. The angels go forth as messengers of God's counsels, and min

justice and mercy. And the secret motions and impulses upon the spirits of men, by which the designs of Providence are carried on, are these four spirits of the heavens, which go forth from God, and fulfil wha

spirits of all flesh appoints. All the events which take place in the world spring from the unchangeable counsels of the Lord, which are formed in unerring wisdom, perfect justice, truth, and goodness; and fromfound that events happened about the period when this vision was sent to the prophet, which seem referred to therein.

WHAT DO WE KNOW ABOUT THESE HORSES, RIDERS AND THEIR PURPOSES?

The four horsemen of Revelation and Zechariah are spirits sent from the throne of God. Each horseman has been given a steed of a different colour, a specific to his assignment and equipped accordingly

carry out his responsibilities. Collectively they bring judgment upon nations and people if they do not acknowledge the Lord and repent. Consider the country of Haiti, a nation that chose to reject God and

voodoo gods. For that sin God has reduced that nation to what it is today. Do you remember Sodom and Gomorrah?

The horsemen, no matter what we think of them are sanctioned by God and are carrying out their duties within the parameters of His permissive will. They have been riding throughout the earth for a long

since the Fall of Man) but not with the severity of assignments as will be the case in the Last Days. The four horsemen of Revelation 6 are on world patrol. They are allowed to strike where ever God has leaving famine, war, death, deception and suffering in their wake. Signs of these spirits are globally apparent if we are alert and know what we are seeking.

The White Horse: The spirit of the Antichrist has been patrolling the world to conquer the hearts, minds, spirits and souls of a whole generation of people. The moral decline of society (apostasy, aborti

pornography, governmental corruption, banning of prayer, political correctness, permissiveness, etc.) is increasing rapidly and can be attributed directly to the elimination of God from our lives and

false religions.

The Red Horse: From 1991 to 2008 there have been 70 wars/conflicts throughout the world as compared to the 17 years between 1974-1991 when there were but 44. That is a 37% increase!

The Black Horse: There have been 4 major famines for the 17 year period between 1974-1991 and 16 severe food shortages for the 17 year period between 1991 and 2008. That is a 75% increase!

The Pale Horse: With war, famine and natural disasters come the pale horse of death. Along with starvation and killing, we are hearing increasingly more and more of super drug resistant diseases, pand

previously unheard of diseases that are poised to kill millions. Although HIV/Aids has been the primary disease/plague of the last 25 years, we are about to experience a horrific outbreak of illness, (Bird Fetc.) and pestilence on an unprecedented scale.

Whether the horsemen symbolize, cause, direct or are involved in all aspects of the tragedies that takes place on earth prior to the entrance and reign of the Antichrist is difficult to comprehend. However t

that they are engaged in its unfolding.

Zechariah 1:9-11: 9 I asked, "What are these, my lord?" The angel who was talking with me answered, "I will show you what they are." 10 Then the man (Christ) standing among the myrtle trees explaine

ones the LORD (God) has sent to go throughout the earth."11

And they reported to the angel of the LORD (Christ), who was standing among the myrtle trees, "We have gone throughout the earth and fouworld at rest and in peace."

These particular riders and horses are the spirits (angelic hosts), sent from God to patrol the earth. On this occasion they found the entire world at rest and peace.Zechariah 6:4-6: "What are these, my lord?" 5 The angel answered me, "These are the four spirits (winds, angels) of heaven, going out from standing in the presence of the Lord of the whole world.

The horses and chariots that Zechariah saw in his vision are spirits sent from God to watch the earth, however, in this passage we know their specific assignments. The black horses followed by the white h

moving towards the north country from where the Assyrians, Babylonians, Sleucids and Romans came to invade Palestine. The horses that go towards the north country seemingly have quieted the Spirit these areas. The grisled and the bay horses went to the land to the south towards Egypt enroute to their eventual patrolling the entire earth. The red horses seem to stay in the area of Israel.

In general, it seems that throughout history the horses and riders, horses and chariots have been used by God to carry out tasks that involve the whole of the world or specific parts thereof. The riders and

spiritual beings who labour within the permissive will of the Lord as they patrol the earth, chastise civilizations and in these end times help prepare the world for the coming of the Antichrist.

WHY CHARIOTS?

Ninety-nine percent of the chariots mentioned in the Bible are used in the context of war. War is an instrument that God has often used to judge a nation, even as He will judge the world during the Great T

THE HORSES OF ZECHARIAH 6:1-8

As we move between Zechariah and Revelation we note that the horses are the same colour. In Revelation 6:1-8 we have a white horse, a red horse, a black horse and a pale horse. In Zechariah 6:1-8 we h

black horses, white horses, a grisled and a bay horse. This prophecy, although parallel to that in Revelation, is stated in just a little different manner in that the horses are pulling chariots (symbolizing wa

bearing riders directly and the pale horse of Revelation is now replaced by a grisled and bay horse in Zechariah. How can this be reconciled? The definition of a grisled (grayish dappled) horse is said to bhorse of lackluster colour. The definition of a bay (light reddish brown) horse is said to be a pale brown colour. John used the adjective pale to describe the fourth horse in Revelation and Zechariah used

grisled and bay to describe the two horses pulling the chariot. Both John and Zechariah could have used the adjective pale to describe their horses, but Zechariah chose to give the actual colour rather than

wording. Nonetheless we can see that the colours of the four horses in these parallel prophecies are the same. When God picked the colours for the horses, he did not pick them indiscriminately. He chose purpose, design and meaning for the time of fulfillment.
