Azizi Life is a fair trade organization dedicated to partnering with skilled Rwandan artisans in their vision to lift their families from poverty. Working since 2008, we have now cultivated partnerships with more than 500 artisans. Azizi Life serves as a bridge, linking artisans, designers, and global customers to offer high-quality, ethically-sourced goods for life and gifting. Our fair trade impact goes beyond livable wages to include resources for growth and investment in our Rwandan-led community impact projects.

Azizi is a Swahili word that means

precious or treasured, and it is our belief that

every person’s life is Azizi.

Our woven bowls, baskets, and trays are hand stitched using natural, locally-grown sisal fibers over a sturdy core of forest grasses. Artisans weave for days to create these beautiful pieces: 1.5, 3, or 5-7 days for the small, medium, and large sizes respectively. With a loop on the back for hanging, these pieces make a stunning bowl wall. They are also beautiful in entryways and on end tables and dining tables. Choose from a palette of Pantone-matched colors to easily customize one of our designs, or create your own patterns and sizes.

Rwanda is a gorgeous country filled with green hills and spotted with small plots of farmland. Amidst this beauty, many struggle to survive. The large majority of Rwandans, including almost all of the artisans, are subsistence farmers and their crops alone are insufficient for their families’ livelihoods.

Since the devastating genocide in 1994, the people of Rwanda have made remarkably significant strides towards healing, recovery, and development. Our artisan partners are using their craft for this purpose. Thank you for joining them as they build their families, community, and nation.
