Dear Friends, Hope. That is the word I am

starting out with this year. I am

hopeful in seeing what God is going

to do this new year of 2016. I am

hopeful in seeing the transformation

of the students by the power of the

Holy Spirit, and I am hopeful in see-

ing how I and the staff will continue

to grow spiritually to represent Je-

sus and His kingdom well.

The students got to go home

for two weeks during our Christmas

break. We believe that family is im-

portant, and we wanted our stu-

dents to be able to spend Christmas

and New Years with their families.

We have two new students that have

enrolled with us this year: Noemi

and Severo who are siblings from

south of Ensenada, please join us in

prayer for our new students to not

only learn sign language, but to also

feel the tangible love of our savior

Jesus here at our school. Continue to

pray for people who are passionate

about missions and education. We are

short on teachers and teachers’ aides.

Johnny, our school principle, has been

doing an excellent job leading the edu-

cational side of our ministry. We are

still looking for an assistant for our

boys dorm parent Mark, who has been

joyfully serving with us for over 11

years.

Faith Family Church, from Wash-

ington, has started the new addition on

Howard and Janet’s apartment. They

have set the bar high for groups as

they worked through days and of

heavy rain. This group has such serv-

ants hearts.

Pray for us as we enter the last half of

the school year. Pray for perseverance

and unimaginable joy to permeate the

staff and our children as we serve our

amazing king Jesus.

Prayer Requests:

Luke’s sabbatical: he is in need of some much needed rest. That the Lord will restore Luke both physically, emotional-ly and spiritually.

That the Lord will bring new students to the ranch so they can learn about Him and the Love of Jesus.

God would move in the hearts of people to come on staff.

It’s Cold & Flu sea-son here at the Ranch please pray our chil-dren and staff will get well soon.

Luke Everett Family

The two week Christmas break was what we needed to

relax and reconnect as a family. Joshua is doing well in

Washington as he continues to work and learn construc-

tion, he was able to spend a couple of days during the

Christmas break with us in Mexico. Lucas is a teacher

here at the school, and is going back to school himself in

Ensenada to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Languages &

Translating to further be equipped to serve the ministry. Josefina has a heart

for the poor, and has been finding ways she can serve our local community

and being Jesus to the least of these. She loves teaching chapel here on the

Ranch, and has a passion for the Word like no other. Sammy has been growing

into his own self as he continues to hang out with his friends

in town. Lately he has been riding horses with his friends,

and lassoing animals like a cowboy. He dresses in the whole

getup; boots, levis, plaid button shirt, and cowboy hat. He

continues to do well in school, and we are excited to see him

graduate and move on to High School since this is his last se-

mester in Middle School. I will be taking about a two month

sabbatical, since serving in a ministry for over 30 years with-

out rest can take a toll on one’s spiritual, mental, and physical health. I hope to

be completely restored as Jesus continues to work in me and in my family.

Serving Others

Full-Time

We are so blessed to

have wonderful

people giving of

their time, talents

and treasures to

serve here full time.

It takes a lot of peo-

ple to make the

ranch effective in

reaching the deaf in

Mexico. This would

be a great oppor-

tunity for you to

minister to the chil-

dren while serving

alongside experi-

enced missionaries.

Guaranteed to build

memories that will

last a lifetime!

What are you doing

to serve others and

further the Kingdom

of God?

Maria and I were married on January 18th, we had a very

small wedding and even a smaller reception, LOL. We are

both looking forward to our new lives together and all

that we can do here at the Ranch. It is such a blessing to

have a companion by your side and I am so thankful that I

have someone to share it with. Eddie B. is still doing a

great job in the office making sure the day to day opera-

tions of the Ranch are done. He has inherited my patience and good looks to

deal with the myriad of paperwork and people that are behind the scenes of

RSM. He is still studying for his degree in Business Administration. Things

should be much easier for him when that is accom-

plished later this year, he is so look-

ing forward to that. Cristina may be

coming back to serve with us here,

that makes us all very happy, (more

on that next time). Stephanie is still

working in America but her heart is

in Mexico, (that’s good I think).

January 6th is a

special day in

Mexico. Known

as 'El Dia de

Reyes' (Three

Kings Day), this

holiday repre-

sents the height

of the Christmas season. The date marks the culmination of the twelve days

of Christmas and commemorates the three wise men who traveled from

afar, bearing gifts for the infant baby Jesus. The children of Mexico in partic-

ular look forward to this holiday as traditionally, gifts are exchanged on this

date, not on Christmas day. In addition to the gift-

giving aspect of the day there is also a culinary treat

that is specific to the holiday. Known as 'Rosca de

Reyes' (King's Cake), this holiday dessert offers much

in the way of symbolism. Shaped in the round to sig-

nify a king's crown, this sweet bread holds a special

surprise. Baked inside are small plastic figurines rep-

resenting the baby Jesus. Whoever finds these tokens are obligated to host

an upcoming party on February 2nd and they get to

make lots of tamales for this occasion. We had mul-

tiple winners this year, and they get to make tamales

with Juanita for the upcoming party. Some staff and

students alike will be joining in the fun.

Thank you San

Clemente Sunshine

Rotary group so

much for the all gifts

and lunch! The pizza

was wonderful and

the kids and staff

loved all of their

presents. Thank you

for being such a

blessing to us all.

Training Center

El Dia de Reyes - Three Kings Day

In 2011 we started a Work Experience Program

for our Training Center students - those who

are 16-19 years old. This year we have eight

students in the program and they are working

at two different locations in our local

town. They learn to be reliable, punctual, effi-

cient and industrious, but most importantly

they learn to work for a boss who does not

know sign language. Working for a hearing

boss who only knows Spanish is scary and challenging, but a neces-

sary skill for when they leave the “nest” of RSM. Since we started the

program, we have approximately 75% of our graduates getting jobs

when they go home.

Lake RSM

When it rains for a

week here, we bust

out the kayaks. Who

knew we would get

so much water again

that Sammy and

Evalynn would get

to enjoy some time

kayaking together.
