The “Tour the Plan” series of travelling conferences organised by SanMarco resumed in Sep-tember following the summer break with the seventh of the 14 events scheduled for 2017. Fol-lowing successful appointments in Bologna, Pescara, Florence, Rome, Bolzano and Genoa, on 21 September it was the turn of Milan. This year’s thought-pro-voking programme explored an architectural design approach entitled “Designing spaces fit for humans: architecture based on awareness and sharing”. The various contributions focused on the potential of a sustainable and shared approach to architectural design based on creativity, tech-nology and innovation. A discussion amongst architects, materials manufacturers and aca-demics revealed the opportuni-ties for integration between ar-chitectural design and the world of business and industry to pro-mote high-quality architecture. The events, which are sponsored by the provincial Orders of Ar-

chitects, are an excellent op-portunity for SanMarco to reach out to a large target audience of new-generation architects and to provide practical solutions to their needs, especially in the field of new energy regulations. In coordination with the parent company Sabo in Greece, Sabo Impianti Brazil has been com-missioned to carry out a major technology revamping project at the Ladrillera La Clay factory in Cartagena de Indias, Colom-bia. The project involves refurbishing the dryer car loading/unloading line and connecting it to the ro-botic kiln car setting machine in-stalled by Sabo in 2015. That first modernisation project enabled the company to increase its pro-duction capacity to 600 tons/day over two 8-hour shifts. Automation of the previous-

ly manual dryer car loading and unloading operations has result-ed in a 30% increase in produc-tion capacity. Sabo has also re-designed the dryer cars to en-able a larger number of pieces to be loaded. The new system results in improved production quality together with high effi-ciency and consequently cost cutting. The increase in production will enable Ladrillera La Clay to meet the growing demand for brick in Colombia and especially in Cartagena de Indias, a tourist city on the Atlantic coast which is expanding its accommoda-tion capacity with the construc-tion of new hotels while at the same time pursuing social hous-ing projects.

L’intervento ha riguardato il rinnovamento della li-nea carico/scarico dei carri essic-catoio che è stata poi collegata al sistema automatico di impilamen-to carri forno installato da Sabo nel 2015; grazie a quel primo ammo-dernamento, l’azienda aveva por-tato la capacità produttiva a 600 tonnellate/giorno su due turni da 8 ore. Ora, l’automatizzazione del-le attività di carico e scarico dei
