Mathematics - Volume and Capacity❏ Definition: Capacity is the measure of how much a container can hold. We measure it in millilitres (mL) and

Litres (L).

1. Go on a capacity hunt around your house. The kitchen, bathroom and laundry are the best places to startas we usually use liquids in these places. You might find food, containers and things like shampoo. Look formL and L written on them somewhere. Be careful not to collect items measured in mass (g and Kg).

2. Record your findings by either writing a list or taking a photo.

3. Arrange and record your items in ascending order from the smallest capacity to the largest.E.g.

Materials: (To make a pig)● A piece of paper – square – 14 x 14 cm (if you do not have square paper, cut an A4 sheet in half and fold the

corner over to create a square..● White paper scraps for the eyes – though you can just draw some on!● Scissors● Glue stick● Black pen for the pig’s details

Steps:● Create a square from rectangular paper to make a bookmark corner.● Take your A5 sheet of paper and fold over one corner to create a triangle.● Cut o� the excess and rotate your triangle so the long edge is at the bottom and the right angle faces up.● Fold the lower right corner up to meet the top right angled corner.● Repeat for the left side.● Fold these two back open.● Flip down ONE of the top sheets and crease.● Now fold the flaps you created back up and tuck INTO your bookmark.● Repeat for the other side.● Cut out some pig ears – triangles with the tops round o� will do.. I decided to give them a little extra shape.● Next, your Pig Bookmark will need an oval snout.● Finally draw some cartoon eyes for your Pig Bookmark and cut them out!● Arrange on your bookmark and glue down with some glue.
