Dynamic and state verbsDynamic verbs (describing an action) can be used in the progressive form.State verbs (describing a state) are not usually used in this form.Some verbs can be both dynamic and state, depending on their meaning.

There are five groups of state verbs:1. verbs expressing feelings: like, love, hate, enjoy, detest, wish prefer2. verbs referring to intellectual states. Auxiliaries in tenses: simple (do), progressive (be), perfect (have).

The simple auxiliary do is followed by a verb in the infinitive form in the interrogative and negative form of the verb, but not in the affirmative form:
