    WARNINGS

    1. GENERAL

    EICAS = E ngine I ndications C rew A lerting S ystem 3 categories of messages WARNINGS = prompt action

    CAUTIONS = timely action ADVISORIES = time available basis

    LEFT computer powering in AUTO

    FIRST message is the new one with a maximum of 11 on one page

    CANCEL removes CAUTIONS and ADVISORIES calls the second page

    RECALL redisplays CAUTIONS and ADVISORIES

    CRT U/S = EICAS DISPLAY Push ENGINE switch to have reduced indications on other CRT STATUS display is no more available in flight

    CONTROL PANEL U/S = EICAS CONT. PNL Secondary instruments auto displayed on the lower CRT Failure of Cancel, Recall, Engine and Status switches

    INHIBITS

    INHIBITS MASTER CAUTION and AURAL at 80 kt if RTO, CAUTION comes ON below 75 kt FIRE BELL and MASTER WARNING lights at nose gear liftoff all inhibits until 20 sec or 400 ft RA whichever occurs first EICAS messages not inhibited MASTER CAUTION and BEEPER on the ground with BOTH fuel levers cutoff

    EVENT record retains ONLY the last one and cancels the previous one

    AURAL

    Bell (FIRE), Voice (GPWS, TCAS) or Siren (cabin, A/P, configuration or overspeed) Beeper 4 times in less than 1 second for all other cautions

    OVERSPEED WARNING cannot be silenced without reducing the speed

    STALL WARNING Stick Shakers With flaps UP & AOA increases towards the stall, control column moves forward

    A on ground by testing both systems together, the control column must move forward

    LANDING GEAR Below 800 ft and either thrust lever retarded FLAPS more than 20 (horn cannot be silenced) Any altitude with either thrust lever retarded in case of failure of left RA

    TAKE-OFF WARNING LE slats or TE flaps not in T/O position Slat/flap disagrees with lever position Stabilizer trim Spoiler NOT in down position Parking brake valve closed

    GROUND PROXIMITY

    MODES 1 = Excessive DESCENT rate = ratio R/A with R/D

    2 = Excessive terrain closure rate = 2A if NOT in landing configuration= 2B if in landing position= idem as 1 but with CLOSURE rate and not R/D

    3 = Altitude loss after T/O or G/A 4 = Unsafe terrain clearance while not in the landing configuration 5 = below G/S (> 1.3 dot below an ILS G/S + < 1000 ft RA with gear down)) WINDSHEAR = priority on the other modes (at liftoff + only < 1500 ft RA on approach)

    TCAS

    T raffic C ollision & A voidance S ystem consists of :- 1 TCAS computer (transceiver which interrogates transponders of other aircraft)- 1 top + 1 bottom mounted TCAS directional antenna

    - 2 transponders- 1 ATC/TCAS control panel- 2 ADIs- 2 HSIs- 2 IVSIs- 1 cockpit speaker which is used for voices messages.

    TCAS provides : - TA displayed when intruder is 20 to 48 sec to enter the TCAS aircrafts collision area (+ Traffic-Traffic )- RA displayed when intruder is 20 to 35 sec to enter the TCAS aircrafts collision area (+ MESSAGE )

    * appropriate message. Ex : Descent, descent !

    TCAS requires the following equipment to be functional and operating:

    - ATC transponder- ADC- ADI- HSI- IVSI- Radio altimeter.

    ln some instances where inhibiting RAs may be appropriate it is not possible to do so due to the limited numberof sensor inputs to TCAS. ln these cases, TCAS may command maneuvers which may significantly reduce stallmargins. Conditions where this may occur include :

    - Bank angle in excess of 15.- Operation at airports outside of 0 to 5300 ft MSL or temperatures outside ISA + or - 30C.

    - One engine inoperative.- Abnormal configurations such as landing gear not retractable.- Leaving aircraft in inappropriate configurations when climb RA occurs.- Speeds below normal operating speeds.- Buffet margin less than 0.3 g.
