It integrates IBM Cognos ® Business Intelligence and IBM DB2 ® with BLU Acceleration to work on large data volumes at unprecedented speeds. It contains reusable and customizable components that collectively make an automation package for the solution deployment. 1 Step 1: Access the software and documentation To download IBM Business Intelligence Pattern with BLU Acceleration Version 1.2.0 from IBM Passport Advantage ® , follow the instructions in the download document (www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg24037529). Review the Release Notes (www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27042687) for late breaking installation and configuration issues. Review the product license to ensure that you have the necessary authorizations to support your topology and that you understand the usage restrictions for all software components that are included with the product. 3 Step 3: Install and deploy the pattern Perform the following steps: 1. Ensure that the prerequisite shared services are deployed to your cloud group. 2. Ensure that you have the installation kits for IBM DB2 Advanced Enterprise Server and IBM Cognos Business Intelligence available. To determine the required software versions, see the IBM Business Intelligence Supported Software Environments reports (www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27042164). 3. Run the installation script to upload the pattern type to your system. 4. Accept the license agreement and enable the pattern type. 5. Deploy your pattern to create a virtual application instance. 6. Install necessary fix packs, available from Fix Central (http://www.ibm.com/support/fixcentral). To determine the fix packs to install, review the IBM Business Intelligence Supported Software Environments reports (www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27042164). 4 Step 4: Install client applications Client applications require a Microsoft Windows or Linux operating system. Install IBM Cognos Cube Designer, which you use to model dynamic cubes. 2. Install IBM Cognos Dynamic Query Analyzer, which includes Aggregate Advisor. Install Cognos Dynamic Query Analyzer to its own location, separate from Cube Designer and other client installations. After installing the client applications, you must configure the client applications to connect to the IBM Cognos Business Intelligence virtual application instance.
