This is our second issue and we hope that you have enjoyed readingour first released. This month is a special month because it isMother’s Day and Polling Day. We would like to take thisopportunity in this this issue of magazine to pay tribute to all ourmommies readers out there.

Nothing matters more to a mom than the health and developmentof her child. In regards to this we have our featured story this monthto cover the various development stage of a child from 0-11 months.We hope it will help you in understanding how to develop your childto his or her fullest potential. For mommies out there, if you findthis information useful and would like us to cover more, specificallyfor the toddler’s stage (more than 12 months old) of development,just make a post to request for it in our Facebook Page “DadWorking from Home” or Email us at [email protected] on the level of enthusiasm, we might continue this topicin our next issue.

It’s Mother’s Day and we have a cover story of a mom’s prayer atpage 30. We hope to share how a mom’s feeling is like towards theirchild.

Although your baby is physically helpless, your baby isprogrammed to imitate. Besides being a sleepy fellow, yournew born has highly developed sense of hearing, taste andsmell. Though their eyesight may still be under the stage ofprogression but they are able to see everything clearlywithin 20-25cm and were programmed to imitate the facialexpressions and sounds you make. They can “read”emotions and may smile if he sees you smiling

Although it seems likeyour newborn babymainly feeds and sleepsbut you can use yourbaby awaken times topromote his innatedesire to communicateand play with You.

Cuddle- Cuddle your baby whenever your baby is awake. The skin-to-skin contact will promote bonding. By gently stroking,caressing or messaging after bath will makes your baby feelloved and secured.

Talking-Talking to your baby is a good form of making your babyrecognizing you.

Play Music- Music calms the nerves. Playing classical music to yourbaby will sooth and encourage your baby to listen

Moving baby’s body- Gently uncurl your baby’s limbs to help your baby stretchand strengthen your baby’s body.

- Gently open baby’s fingers and hands to encourage baby toopen his or her fist.

Although she may still be your tiny baby but her physicalability is strengthening each and every day and she’ll bespending her wakeful moments practicing her musclestrength. She began to show her maturing personality andstart rewarding your affection with spontaneous smiles.

1 to 2 Months

Your baby brain is growing so the emphasis for this month ison the development of the mind. Intellectual developmentdepends on the acquisition of stereoscopic vision when theeyes work together and develop the ability to focus on objectswithin distant.

Books- Baby’s 1st book. Colorful cloth books are idea as baby will bedrawn to the bright colors and your voice. The idea is to allowbaby to focus on looking and getting familiar with you.

Talking- Talking to your baby is a good way to introduce yourself andto get your baby familiarized with you.

Moving a Rattle- A moving object positioned at 20-25cm above the baby facewill helps to strengthen your baby’s eye muscle and helps yourbaby to learn coordination as he tries to move his headtogether. Though, your baby can see but he’s yet to train hiseyes to focus at a distance.

During this month your baby will stays awake longer andyou’ll begin to notice that your baby is more alert and adefinite acceleration of your baby’s development as he’sgrowing stronger and wants to interact with everyonearound him. You’ll starts to hear squeals, gurgles, shoutsand cooing sounds from him. He can focus on anythingnow and is always in a playful mood to play. His neckmuscle is stronger and can raise his head and hold it upwhen lying on his tummy.

2 to 3 Months

Your baby is now learninghow to use and controlhis body. He has strongerneck muscle and is takingevery opportunity topractice his body parts,like making all kind ofnoises using his mouth.

Bath Time Fun- Bath time is a great opportunity for your baby to enjoyhimself with relative physical freedom. Allows time for yourbaby to explore splashing and have fun while training hismobile skill.

At this age your baby can make her hands and feet do someof the things she wants. She recognizes familiar faces andlearned to laugh. She likes to be held up in a sitting positionso that she can look around and she’s now able to sit with astraight back. She can partially control her head movementand can completely raise her chest off the mat when layingon her tummy. She’ll be able to express herself throughchuckling, laughing and squealing.

3 to 4 Months

Your baby’s becoming really good with her hands and shetends to grab at any things that is within her reach. She’s alsomaking great intellectual strides. Her visual perception ismaturing and she’s able to distinguish between shapes.

Shake a RattleThough your baby hands might not be able to hold a rattle butby shaking a rattle in front of your baby will encourage yourbaby to stretch and strengthen their arm’s muscle.

Play Finger GamesPlaying counting finger game will helps to refine your baby’sfinger movement and co-ordinations.

By now he’s no longer a littler stranger. You’ll be able toknow his needs and he’s beginning to learn and express hisfeelings. He has a repertoire of emotions such as fear, anger,disgust, frustration, sadness and pleasure to which he wantsyou to response sympathetically – you should as this willencourage him with expressing himself. He loves games andplaying is how his learning starts and he’ll smiles at his ownreflection.

He starts reaches out for everything and will starts poppingany thing he grabs into his month as this it’s his mostsensitive sense area.

4 to 5 Months

It’s only going to be another month or so and your baby shouldbe trying to sit up on his own. At this month it is vital to helpyour baby in strengthening his back and neck muscle.

Bouncing GameNow that his upper body is strong, mobile and head control iscomplete. Try playing bouncing game. Hold your baby standingon your knee and let your baby bounce up and down on yourlap.

Baby Shape SorterYour baby at around 16 weeks can already distinguish thedifferences between shapes or sizes. Try playing a game ofshape sorter either in the form of printed cards or a shapesorter. This will boost the observation and spatial awareness ofyour baby.

Your baby is increasingly mobile and the increasing strengthand mobility means that your baby now can sit with acushion supporting her and she’s now able to roll right overfrom her tummy to her back. She also tends to bounce upand down when you hold her standing on your lap. Yourbaby also gets a hang of talking through making sound andbegins to response to her name when it’s being called. Herboth hands are able to hold and guide objects now andshe’ll be able to hold her own bottle while feeding. She lovesgame like “Peep-a-Boo” and will laugh along when you playsit with her.

5 to 6 Months

Your baby is becoming increasingly demonstrative and wants to show her love for you though touch and vocalization. By now your baby will have greater control of her hands and knows her own mind and can make her understood.

Touching FacesGet your baby to touch your face and say “Hello” as she doesso or putting a mirror in front of your baby and help her to pather own image. This will teach your baby to show and expressherself.

Bricks and BlocksTraditional bricks and blocks game are popular because itstimulates your baby senses. It benefits your baby in refiningher grasp and help to build up your baby’s eyes and hand co-ordinations.

Your baby is now able to sit up by herself now and is reallybeginning to understand the surrounding around her. Hermemory is also improving and she can imitates you. She’smore self-contained and happy with her own company too.She’s very sociable and wants people around her tounderstand her so she laughs, cries, squeals, blow bubbles,smile and frown in communication. Her hand’s grasp isbecoming more refined and she’s able to drink from a two-handled cup

6 to 7 Months

Your baby grasp is getting more and more precise; for this willaids him in all his future learning. He’s also beginning to startpopping things into his mouth as this is where his senses aremost sensitive.

Baby TalkReinforce your baby’s delight In vocalization by repeating therecognizable sounds your baby makes; E.g. “Ba”, “Da” and Ka.He’ll learn to take turns and copy the sound you make and thiswill aid him in the learning of speech.

Finger Food and 2-Handled CupGive him finger food or try to introduce 2-handled cup or givingyour baby small objects to hold between his fingers. This willtrain the precision of his grasp.

Now your baby is learning to express love. You’ll noticethere’s an increasing signs that your baby understands whatyou say, though he may still not be able to speak words withmeaning. Your baby may become wary of people he doesn’tknow and this is a way of him showing his preference for thepeople who cares for him.

7 to 8 Months

Your baby's beginning to understand how objects relate to oneanother in three-dimensional space. She may be able to sorttoys, grouping smaller items by size. Babies instinctivelycombine objects by stacking them and, as they get older, tryingto fit them inside one another.

Stimulating toys and gamesBecause he likes predictability, your baby enjoys playing thesame game or reading the same book over and over. Inaddition to patty-cake, try adding classics such as "If You'reHappy and You Know It" and "This Little Piggy" to yourrepertoire.

By 9 months old your baby is desperate to become mobileand it’s time to toddler-proof your home while your babystart to crawl by himself. He now has a mind of his own andhe’s learning to match words and meaning.

8 to 9 Months

Your baby is beginning to discover that sitting up isn’t enoughand the urge of propelling around with his body is becomingstronger. You can help your baby to achieve this with physicalgames and enthusiastic encouragement.

Raisin Trail- This game encourage crawling and your baby will becomemotivated with every crawl as he’s being rewarded with thepre-lined up trail of the raisin. This game also gets your baby touse his forefinger to point and then the fine finger & thumbgrasp to pick up something small, like a raisin.

Turn a Book- Your baby’s grasp is getting finer. She’s able to handle smallobject now. Introduce her to explore toys that require holdingfirmly like brick and blocks or encouraging her to try and flip orturn a page of a reading book. These will help her to gainconfident of her mobile skill.

Your 10 months old baby will now choose to propel aroundby him or herself. Your baby will now be able to feed him orherself and begins to say “Mama” and “Dad” much oftenand is proud of being able to feed him or herself whileeating together with the family. Your baby will also crawls orshuffles on him or her bottoms and will waves “bye-bye”when you says it. Your baby will like noisy toys and will beattracted to toy like a rattle.

9 to 10 Months

Everything is beginning to come together now: intellectual skillsare helping her to understand the language and aiding her toexpress her emotions. She’s moving about quite freely and herhand-eye co-ordination is so skilled that she will have noproblem picking up small objects that she wants.

Bucket of Fun- Sand playing is always full of wonders to you young little tot.Even knocking them down and start re-building a sand castleagain is just a piece of pie to your young tot but it providesendless fun to him or her. Thru playing of this game, it benefitsthe development of your tot’s sense of touch and imagination.

Physical and intellectual development at this age can varyenormously from one baby to another and still be perfectlynormal. Your baby is now trying to practice a lots of pre-walking movement and is beginning to look more like a childthan a baby. The movement of his hands and fingers arereally skilled and refined now and he can turn the bookpages with his finger.

10 to 11 Months

Your baby is just beginning to understand many simple wordsand phrases, so it's more important than ever to keep talking tohim.

Adult Language TalkGive your chatterbox a head start on good speech patterns by repeating his words back to him using adult language. If he asks for a "bah-bah," for example, gently reinforce the correct pronunciation by asking, "Do you want a bottle?" At this stage of the game, it's best to try to avoid the tendency to use baby talk.

Play-by-play description Play-by-play description of what you're doing — whether you're dicing onions for dinner or folding the laundry. Soon you may notice some words or gestures is being repeated by your child.
