Baclig, Andres A. “Andy”, of Hilo, a retired Hawaii County Bandmaster who was active in
Community service and many organizations, died Thursday in Hilo Hospital. Baclig, 92. Also
was o former Hawaiian Airlines sales representative, KHBC radio announcer and police and
court reporter. He served as bandmaster and chief warrant officer with the 110th
Hawaii Army
National Guard Band, taught band at several big Island high schools, and was a former choir
director at Central Christian Church. He was past president of several organizations, including
the Hilo Lions Club, the Boys and girls Club of Hilo, the Filipino Council of Hawaii and the
Association of Filipino Americans. Born in Batac, Ilocos Norte, the Philippines, he is survived

children, died Feb. 18 in California. Boldt, 65, and his wife, Joan J., raised 35 foster children in
California, 16 in Hawaii, and 15 in Washington state. Boldt, retired carpenter, was born in Hilo.
He is also survived by sons Robert Boldt and Richard W. and Larry Davis; daughter Linda Mae

Bond, Dorothy A. Griffith former dean of girls at Punahou School, died Tuesday in Pomona,
Calif. Bond, 91, was born in Appleton, Wis. She joined the staff at Punahou as a chemistry
instructor in 1947, and was named dean of girls in 1950 and director of admissions in 1957. She
resigned later that year after marrying Elbert B. Griffith, a retired orange grower in Covina,
Calif. Griffith preceded her in death. Bond received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the
University of Cincinnati. She taught chemistry from 1922-1924 at Randolph-Macon Woman’s
College in Lynchburg, Va., where she met James Douglas Bond of Ewa. After a career in
Hawaii’s sugar industry. Bond died in 1953. She is survived by son James D. Bond Jr., daughter
Janet E. Shaw, five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A memorial services was
conducted Thursday at Oakdale Memorial Chapel in Glendora, Calif. Interment was scheduled
