2-Year Consecutive Education• A program for students that have already completed a 3 or 4 year

undergraduate degree from Nipissing or another university.

• Nipissing offers reduced residence fees for students entering the 2-Year Consecutive BEd Program. Students living in residence for both years get a discount on their second year residence fees – a savings of approximately $1,630. (Residence rooms are subject to availability.) 6-Year Concurrent Education• Students graduate with a Dual Degree – an honours (4-year)

undergraduate degree in their discipline of choice (except Nursing and Social Work) and a Bachelor of Education degree.

• Your first 4 years will consist of courses in your chosen field of study, combined with specialty education courses to prepare you for teaching.

• Years 5 and 6 will focus on education courses combined with placement and experiential learning.

Divisions and Teaching Subjects Offered

PR IM ARY/JUNIOR – P/J(Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6)

Most P/J teacher candidates do not choose teaching subjects.

Qualified candidates can choose the P/J French as a Second Language option. Teacher candidates who wish to enroll in the FSL stream must supply proof of oral and written fluency in French. Students who graduate with the P/J FSL BEd degree will be qualified to teach French as a second language (core, extended, and immersion) Grades K-12.

JUN IOR/INTER MED IATE – J/I(Grades 4 to 10)

Teacher candidates must choose one of the following teaching subjects in which they have at least three full undergraduate courses (or six one semester courses).

• English • French as a Second Language • Geography• History• Mathematics • Music (Instrumental) • Health and Physical Education• Science (General) • Visual Arts

INTER MED IATE/SENIOR – I/S(Grades 7 to 12)

Teacher candidates choose two of the following teaching subjects. You must have at least five full undergraduate courses (or ten one semester courses) in the first teaching subject, and at least three full undergraduate courses (or six one semester courses) in the second teaching subject.

• Business Studies – General• Biology• Chemistry • English • French as a Second Language • Geography• History• Mathematics • Music (Instrumental) • Health and Physical Education• Physics • Social Sciences – General (first teaching subject only)• Visual Arts

Students in Community Leadership Experience placements gain teaching experience outside of a classroom setting.

Apply for a Schulich Scholarship• 55 scholarships at $7,000 each • Awarded to selected full-time students entering the first year of

an undergraduate degree program with a focus on education – Concurrent Education; Bachelor of Physical and Health Education; or the Consecutive Bachelor of Education.

• Must have a minimum 80% average and at least one of the following: volunteer work; community involvement; or financial need.
