NCIDQ CertificationTo be eligible to sit for the NCIDQ Examination specific education and work experience are required. Completing our CIDA-accredited Bachelor of Interior Design prepares you to apply for the exam and join a 30,000-strong network of proven interior designing experts. NCIDQ certification is required for the practice of many types of interior design in regulated jurisdictions throughout North America.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE PATHWAY PROGRAMStudents who plan on applying for the Bachelor of Interior Design

program need to meet the following requirements.

High School diploma with at least a 65% average in six courses from the University or University/College stream, including:

Grade 12 English

One Grade 11 or 12 Math (U and/or U/M level or equivalent)

Four or Five other Grade 12 subjects at the U and/or U/M level

or equivalent to a minimum of six grade 12 courses

Submit required documents such as transcripts, resume, detailed course descriptions for transfer credits consideration, and a Statement of Interest.

Pay the application fee

If English is not your primary or native language and you completed your previous education in a language other than English, you will need to provide proof of English language proficiency:

TOEFL with a score of at least 550 (written version) or 80 (Internet-based version)

IELTS with overall bandwidth of at least 6.0

Canadian Academic English Language Test (CAEL) with a score of 60 or higher

A score equivalent to these scores on another test of English language proficiency recognized by the university

RESOURCE AND SUPPORT

The English Language Pathway Program enables students, with less than the minimum required IELTS scores, to be accepted to Yorkville University programs in Ontario, under the following conditions.

Students whose IELTS score (or equivalent) is lower than 4.5 will have to successfully complete Level 1 and Level 2 of the English Language Pathway Program.

Students whose IELTS score (or equivalent) is 4.5 or higher but lower than 5.5 will have to successfully complete Level 2 of the English Language Pathway Program.

All students completing Level 2 of the English Language Pathway Program are eligible to start their academic program but will enroll in an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course in Term 1.

Students with an IELTS score (or equivalent) of 5.5 but below 6.0 are eligible to start their academic program but will enroll in an English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course in Term 1.

Students with an IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent) will enroll in Yorkville University’s regular academic program without condition.

Students without an IELTS score will be asked to complete the Oxford Placement Test to determine their placement in either (a) Level 1, (b) Level 2 or (c) enter their degree program directly or with a concurrent English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course.
