Your back muscles define your physique. It will give you that much sought after V-taper that can make you look big. It will give you the wide, large and in charge look. An impressive physique is not complete without a set of wide lats and a thick back. Here are some tips to help develop your back muscles and to strengthen them so that you don't have problems as you get older.

Back ExercisesThere are essentially three main parts of the back.. There is the Trapesius, Latimus Dorsi, and the spinal erectors.

The Trepesius can be trained with 2 exercises. The upright row done while standing. Grip a barbell and pull up towards your chin.

Make sure to keep your elbows as high as possible.

Back ExercisesThe second muscle group of the back, the Latissimus Dorsi or lats. These muscles on either side of your back start at your lower back and sweep up to the deltoids creating the famous V-shape.

A great shaping exercise is wide grip chinning. This really adds broadness to your lats.

T-bar rowing adds thickness to your lats. Be careful not to place stress on your lower back while performing t-bar rowing.

Back ExercisesThe third section of the back is the spinal erectors of the lower back. Many refer to these muscles as the Christmas tree because of the striations up and down the lower back area.

Performing hyper-extensions, you can really strengthen these muscles. A strong lower back improves your statue. Plus, it can help prevent lower back problems in later life.
