Our Arican saari tradition continues with our extraordinary leader and riend, Lex Hes

one o the fnest bush guides on the continent. Tis is the perect itinerary or those wishing

to experience these three remarkable countries in a highly personal way.

We begin our adventure in ascinating Namibia with its stunning red desert terrain and unique

wildlie. In Botswana we experience the ood plains o the Okavango Delta. And in Zambia we

are surrounded by the magnifcent wilderness o South Luangwa National Park. Well travel by

chartered aircrat, open 4x4 vehicles, and mekoros, (dugout canoes), propelled by a guide throughshallow, winding river channels.

Highlights o this journey are as varied as they are ascinating. Our saari includes awe-inspiring

landscapes and a visit with the Himba peopleone o the last remaining nomadic tribes in Arica.

Well search or desert rhino and elephant in the rugged landscapes o Damaraland; view large

herds o springbok, oryx, and elephant in Etosha National Park; experience the Okavango Delta

at a time when the landscape is a stunning lush green; and well explore the relatively unknown

South Luangwa National Park (amous or its leopards) where we see Tornicrots girae and

puku, among many other game animals.

Not only is our leader, Lex, charismatic and personable, he possesses an innate knowledge and

instinct about Arica that we believe has no equal. Involved in the world o wildlie or almost 30

years he was a guide at the amous Londolozi Game Reserve. He is a superb nature photographer,

with credits in publications that span the globe, and the author o several books, including the

    highly acclaimed Leopards of Londolozi.

We hope youll join Lex on this grand adventure through a wide variety o spectacular landscapes

that, in tandem with the close-up encounters with vast numbers o birds and animals, is a travel

    experience only Arica can oer.

    Warmest regards,

    Peter Harrison & Shirley Metz

    cocktails and dinner.

    DAYS 3 5

    WINDHOEK / DESERT RHINO CAMP,

    DAMARALAND

Ater breakast we transer to the airport to

board our chartered aircrat to Desert Rhino

Camp. Located in a million-acre reserve, the

camp boasts an outstanding wilderness experi-

ence in comortable accommodations. Tereserves harsh countryside is punctuated with

a number o resh water springs that support

    healthy populations o desert-adapted black

rhino and elephant as well as large populations

o the rare Hartmanns mountain zebra, oryx,

and kudu. Predators are also numerous, with

the largest populations o lion, cheetah, leopard,

and brown and spotted hyena ound outside

Etosha National Park. Many o Namibias

endemic bird species are ound here, as well

as succulent plants uniquely adapted or lie

in this desert. While at Desert Rhino Camp we

have the opportunity or walks and drives in

one o the best wilderness areas in Namibia.

    DAYS 6 & 7

    DESERT RHINO CAMP /

    SERRA CAFEMA

Ater breakast, we depart or Serra Cafema

Camp. Arguably the most remote camp in all

o southern Arica, it overlooks the Kunene

Riverthe only permanent water source in the

region, creating a lush oasis along its banks sur-

rounded by rugged mountains and sand dunes.

Tis region is also home to the Himba tribe,

one o the last nomadic people in all o Arica.

Our encounters with the Himba are among

the most memorable experiences o our days

in Namibia. Himba amilies live in proximity

to Serra Cafema, giving us an opportunity to

visit and learn more about their liestyle and

    traditions.

Other activities include game drives to view

herds o oryx and springbok, boating on the

Kunene, hiking, and birding. For the more

adventurous, one o the highlights oSerra

Cafema is guided quad-bike excursions allowing

us to visit the massive sand dunes near camp.

    DAYS 8 & 9

    SERRA CAFEMA / ONGAVA

Our next destination is the ideal location orour activities in Etosha National Park. Ongava

Tented Camp is situated along the southern

boundary o Etosha in a privately owned reserve.

Etosha, the place o dry water, oers one o the

great wildlie experiences remaining in Arica.

Covering over 8,000 square miles, the park

encompasses a vast salt pan 80 miles long and

    is Namibias premier game-viewing destination.

Ongava is one o the ew private game reserves

in southern Arica where we may see white

and black rhino, and the area holds good

populations o lion, eland, mountain zebra,

    black-aced impala, a number o other antelope

species, and a host o birdlie. In addition to

our daytime activities, we enjoy game walks

    and nighttime game drives.DAYS 10 & 11

    ONGAVA / VUMBURA, BOTSWANA

Ater breakast we depart Ongava by charter

ight to Vumbura Plains Camp via Grootontein

and Maun. Vumbura lies in the extreme north

    o the Okavango Delta.

Te Okavango Deltas waters allow us to explore

the camps ood plains via mekoros(dug-outcanoes) guided by polers rom the BaYei tribe,

who have been using them as their traditional

orm o transport or hundreds o years. Water

levels permitting, boats take us into the larger

and deeper areas o water while 4x4 vehicles

allow us to get in proximity to animals in the

savanna areas. Tis is possibly the only area in

the Okavango where one can see red lechwe rom

a mokoro in the morning and a sable anteloperom a vehicle in the aternoon. Other wildlie

sightings may include lion, leopard, elephant,

Tese tents are en suite and are designed to the highest standards, with hot and cold running
