We connected industry leaders with students in their classrooms, as well as at companies across L.A. through these career pathways:
Companies engaged with students in multiple settings to provide hands-on learning opportunities and inform them about the current tech landscape, skill demands, job roles and educational requirements
SOME 2015-2016 HIGHLIGHTS
Professionals from Tribemint,
CGI, and Grayling were among
those we partnered with for
Principal For A Day -- a
citywide event presented by L.A.
Area Chamber and UNITE-LA
that pairs industry executives
with education administrators
and teachers from local schools
across the region.
Riot Games welcomed 23
lucky students from Pasadena
City College to their West L.A.
campus for a creative writing
immersive workshop led by
members of the writing team
that creates the dynamic worlds
within the company’s gaming
success, “League of Legends”.
In 2015, Bixel Exchange launched the Tech Ed Partnerships program to foster connections between the
technology industry and local students, through our partnership with the Los Angeles High Impact Information
Technology, Entertainment & Entrepreneurship, and Communications Hubs (LA HI-TECH). Our goal is simple:
develop career pathways to technology jobs for students that otherwise wouldn’t have access to opportunities
with top tech employers in L.A.
More than 10,000 student
attendees were introduced to
exhibitors like Snapchat, Sensay,
Instacart and Hacker Fund at
Tech Corner at the L.A. Area
Chamber and UNITE-LA’s
annual Cash For College college
and career fair. IBM and a
dozen other tech professionals
engaged in several career
panels on entrepreneurship,
digital media and technology.
Dollar Shave Club accompanied
23 high school students
on a tour of their Venice
headquarters. Several sta
engineers opened up to students
about their own professional
journeys and shared advice on
navigating a career in tech.
