Back to School Night
7th Grade ELA
Policies
Students should be cooperative and respectful in class.
Students should have all supplies necessary.
Students should notify me of planned absence.
Mistakes are ok!
Homework Policy
Homework must be completed as assigned.
If an assignment is not completed, student will stay in at recess to complete.
Late assignments will receive half credit.
Preparation Points
Every student begins with a 100%.
If students forget an item for class, they loose 1 point.
Will be part of the classwork/participation grade.
If absent…
Students are required to find out what they missed.
Students can check the board in class, Google Classroom and/or the website.
All work must be made up.
Late, incomplete and/or missing work will result in loss of homework points.

6 Writing Traits - Ideas/Content, Organization, Voice, Word Choice, Sentence Fluency, Conventions
Grammar - Grammar lessons work in conjunction with the writing pieces. Grammar lessons are also determined based on what skills the students need to master.
Rubrics - They are found in the textbook and are used before, during, and after the writing.

Writing Portfolio
Process work is kept in the classroom.
All finished pieces are logged into the writing portfolio.
Writing pieces are revisited throughout the year and in 8th grade as students become more proficient writers.
GradingELA and Literature are graded as two classes.
Grades can be checked on Genesis.
50% Written Pieces/Tests
30% Quizzes
15% Classwork/Participation
5% Homework
Google Classroom
Chrome books are in the classroom.
Announcements and assignments posted here.
Students have login credentials.
