Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta unanimously re-elected as President of Badminton Association of India (BAI) for another Term of four years w.e.f. June 13, 2014. Dr. Gupta is also Vice President of Badminton Asia Confederation and Executive Council Member of Badminton World Federation. He is also Vice President of Indian Olympic Association and President, U.P. Olympic Association.

Badminton Association of India (BAI) President Dr Akhilesh Das Gupta announced a cash prize of Rs 40 lakhs for the Indian Women's Team that created history by winning the Bronze Medal in the 2014 Li-Ning BWF Uber Cup Finals. "The Women's Team has made all of us proud with the way they played last week. The Badminton Association of India is providing the best of facilities to the players to perform on the international stage and the cash prize is just a part of our commitment towards the players," Dr Gupta added.

Kashyap ended India’s 32-year wait for a Men’s Singles Title in Common Wealth Games when he won Gold Medal in the individual event at Glasgow.

The Women’s Doubles pair of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa won Silver Medal while P V Sindhu and RMV Guru Sai Dutt bagged Bronze Medals in Women’s and Men’s Singles respectively.

Ending a 28-year-old Medal drought in Badminton at the Asian Games, India won Bronze Medal in the Women's Team event.

12-10-2014: Almere, Netherland Ajay Jayaram returned to the International Circuit and clinched the Dutch Open Grand Prix Badminton Title, his biggest career achievement.

12-10-2014: Kudus, Indonesia Indian Young Shuttlers Siril Verma & Daniel Farid bagged the Asian Youth Badminton Championship Titles in U-15 and U-17 Boy’s Singles categories respectively. MR Arjun/Chirag Shetty and Krishna Prasad/Shreya Bose won Bronze Medals in U-17 and U-15 Boy’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles categories respectively.

08-11-2014: Isa Town, Bahrain P. C. Thulasi won Women’s Singles Title and Anand Pawar was Runner–up in Men’s Singles at Bahrain International Challenge – 2014 at Bahrain.

16-11-2014: Fuzhou, China

Saina Nehwal and K. Srikant Won China Open Title - 2014 in Women’s Singles and Men’s Singles categories on the historic day for Indian Badminton.

The 21-year-old Srikanth showed nerves of steel to produce a dominating performance to see off five-time World Champion Lin Dan of China in the Men's Singles Final in just 46 minutes.

P.V. Sindhu underlined the increasing dominance of the Indian Players in World Badminton by retaining her Macau Open Badminton Grand Prix Gold - 2014 Title this year consecutively.

Pradanya Gadre and Sikki Reddy won Gold Medal at Bangladesh Open International Badminton Challenge 0 2014 in Women’s Doubles.

31-12-2014 : BWF Ranking

India’s leading male Shuttler Kidambi Srikanth jumped from 47th Rank to take a career-high 04th position in 2014 as per BWF Rankings. Beating the five-time All England Champion and World Champion Lin Dan of China was outstanding performance.

With this move, the 21 year old Srikanth became only the third Indian to break into the Men’s Singles top-five World Rankings. Legendary Praksh Padukone (No 1) and Pulella Gopichand (No 4) had earlier been in the Top five.

2014 has been a good year for Saina Nehwal, 24 year old India Icon, started the year from World No. 9 but climbed up to No. 4 in the BWF Women’s Singles Rankings.
