Agenda 1: Ucapan Aluan Pengerusi / Chairman’s Address
Dato’ Sri Chairman welcomed all members to the EGM, particularly representatives from the National Sports Institute, Mr. Ahmad Johari Wahab, and Mr. Niyewzuan Iszuan Cheng from ISN.
Dato’ Sri Chairman informed members that today’s EGM is convened specifically to amend Article 9 of the BAM Constitution. The article relates to the positions of Honorary Secretary, Honorary Treasurer and Assistant Honorary Secretary.
Historically, the positions of Secretary, Assistant Secretary and Treasurer have been an Honorary position. Nonetheless with the increased responsibility, workload, and direct accountability that these officials are undertaking since last year, it is only fair that they are remunerated accordingly.
Thus, the Council have proposed to the General Assembly to amend the Constitution so that these three positions are no longer honorary positions. Dato’ Sri Chairman hoped to have all the members’ support in approving this amendment.
Agenda No. 2: Pindaan Artikel 9 Perlembagaan BAM / Amendment to Article 9 of the BAM Constitution

DNCC brought members’ attention to a document “Lampiran A” which contained article 9 of the BAM Constitution. The changes proposed are:• The word “honorary secretary” shall now be replaced with “General Secretary”• Addition of article 9 v) c): “The Council may decide that the BAM provide a monthly stipend to the
General Secretary.”• The word “honorary assistant secretary” shall now be replaced with “Assistant Secretary General”• Addition of article 9 vi) d): “The Council may decide that the BAM provide a monthly stipend to the
Assistant General Secretary.”• The word “honorary treasurer” shall now be replaced with “Treasurer”• Addition of article 9 vii) c): “The Council may decide that the BAM provide a monthly stipend to the
Treasurer.”• Wherever it appears in the BAM Constitution, the word “honorary secretary” will be replaced with
“secretary general”; the word “assistant honorary secretary” will be replaced with “assistant secretary general”; and the word “Honorary Treasurer” will be replaced with “Treasurer”.
Members of the EGM unanimously approved the above proposal.

C. Activities
1. Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) On Yearly Intake And Exit Of National Players
A SOP was put in place at the beginning of the year. While it is not ‘cast in stone’, its objective is to create transparency and guideline to the selection and de-selection of players for the National team. The procedure is to keep players on their toes and ultimately players performance is the key in the implementation of a high-performance culture.
Amongst the criteria listed include:
• A quarterfinalist (singles event) and semi-finalist (doubles event) of a National level tournament.• Nominated by BAM coaches• Must be able to train full-time The intake and exit will take place every February and August of the year.
2. Outward Bound School (OBS)
BAM sent a total of 15 female players to participate in the Outward Bound School (OBS) camp for the first time. Positive response was received by the players. It is the aim that OBS will be able to instil camaraderie and mental toughness amongst the players.
3. Ehime Prefecture Training Camp
Date: 19 – 28 August 2018
As part of BAM’s Memorandum of Understanding with Ehime prefecture, a total of 23 players and officials attended a centralized training camp in August. The camp held for the first time, was very well organized. In fact, a few Japanese players were flown in from Tokyo to spar with our team for a few days. It was a fantastic experience for our team. They had a solid 10 days of training, and the time spent created a closer and stronger bond among the players.
32
4. Restructuring Of The ISN Podium Program & MSN Program
With the restructuring of the PODIUM and KJ Programs, a new tier system has been implemented for the new year of 2019. The four-tier system aims to provide more focus and priority to the Multi sport Games. It has a clearer target and KPIs for athletes to reach their long and short term goals.
Badminton has been placed in:
• Tier One: Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games• Tier Two: Commonwealth Games and Asian Games• Tier Three: SEA Games 2019/2021• Tier Four: None major Games
In total: 22 players have been selected to be part of the four tier system.
