Overview

The BAI (Bank Administration Institute) Data Export File in Commercial Banking Online follows the standard template for BAI Bank Statements.It replaces the BAI Download available from Corporate Online and is available for today’s transactions, yesterday’s transactions or for transactions across your chosen date range.This guide outlines the key changes from Corporate Online and file specification information for the new Commercial Banking Online Export File.

Important Information

Please use this information as the specification document to make changes required to your local processes, to avoid any problems in reconciliation after your move to Commercial Banking Online.

How to download the BAI Export

The BAI Export is available from the Download Data Export screen in Commercial Banking Online.

Select the Export Type BAI and set the required date and account parameters for your export.

Further guidance is available from the Commercial Banking Online Support Centre

Using the BAI ExportWe recommend you use the BAI Export if you need to use transaction and balance data to complete reconciliations and other finance processes and currently use a Corporate Online BAI download file to do this.

If you need to view advices, create reports to view within Commercial Banking Online or export reports in a similar format to a traditional bank statement you should use the Reports section in Commercial Banking Online.

BAI Export File Structure

The formatting and content of each record in the BAI Export File will be different in Commercial Banking Online. The records included and numeric codes identifying these records will remain the same as in Corporate Online.

BAI Record Structure:

The BAI File is made of a series of records. Each entry within a record is separated by a comma (‘,’) and the end of each record is indicated by a forward slash (‘/’).

The table below shows the numeric code and definition for each record. Mandatory records will be included for every statement section. Optional records will appear based on the transactions included on the statement.

In Corporate Online the BAI Export was only available for individual accounts. In Commercial Banking Online you are able to export a BAI File for multiple accounts, if needed.

Record 03: Account Identifier & Summary StatusSort code & account number changes from SSSSSSAAAAAAAA on Corporate Online to SSSSSS-AAAAAAAA on Commercial Banking Online (a separating hyphen is included).

In Commercial Banking Online the first two characters of the sort code are included.

Funds Type is not populated on Corporate Online and is set to ‘Z’ on Commercial Banking Online.

Commercial Banking Online provides balances for codes 015, 045, 972, 974 and 990. Corporate Online provides balances for codes 015, 045 and 040. See table below for definitions of each code.
