Dr Shyam Bhat’s tips Useful for class 11 and 12 students
Acid Medium • Balance the number of atoms except oxygen
and hydrogen• Identify oxygen deficient side• Add H2O on oxygen deficient side• To balance hydrogen atoms, add H+ ion on the
opposite side where H2O was added in earlier step
• That’s all !!!! Happy balancing

Alkaline Medium• Balance the number of atoms except oxygen and
hydrogen• Identify oxygen deficient side• Add H2O on oxygen deficient side• To balance hydrogen atoms, add H+ ion on the opposite
side where H2O was added in earlier step• Add equal number of OH- ions (same H+ ions) on both
sides• Cancel H2O on one of the side to balance H2O molecules, • H2O = one H+ plus one OH-• That’s all !!!! Happy balancing • [email protected]
