- 21. Dullah (1919- 1996) Dullah,a self made artist, was born in Solo in 1919. Since the early days of the independence, Dullah was very close to Soekarno, the first President of the Republic of Indonesia. He was therefore appointed by Soekarno to take care of all of the Presidents art possessions and at the same time as curator of the state painting collections. After no longer in charge of President Soekarno's art collections, Dullah spent most of his creative time in Bali together with a group of his pupils. At the age of 70, Dullah built his museum in Solo all by his own without any financial succour from the government or other private institutions.

- 28. I Gusti Ngurah Gede Pemecutan does not need a stamp to mark his painting masterpieces. He has hundreds of his fingerprints on all of them. For every fingerprint painting, Pemecutan has to start by painting the white canvas with dark-based colors such as green, blue or brown. Pemecutan recalled that he worked for 18 months to complete his largest 3 meter by 1.5 meter painting of Perang Puputan Badung (Puputan Badung War) in 2001, which may have only needed a week to finish off using the regular brush-and-paint technique.

His natural talents caught the attention of Dullah, (editor of President Sukarno s palace painting collection & one of Indonesias most renowned artist). He stayed and learn painting under this grandmaster in Bali for 8 years. Dullah (1919 -1994) taught him everything he knew techniques, use of colours, lighting effect, eye for details and composition. Dullah had many students but none as gifted as Yatim.

- 43. Sudarisman (born 1948)
- 44. Sudarisman was born in 1948, in Yogyakarta, Central Java, and graduated from the Arts Academy there. He also studied at an arts academy in Holland where he learned about Western art and where he was taught not to depict realism in his work. The abstract symbols in his works show us the power of technology and its influence on mankind. On the other hand, Sudarisman has a lot of respect for his traditional society, especially the traditional craftsmen and artists and he loves to represent them in his work. The colours Sudarisman uses are very characteristic of him, with warm colours always present. The warm yellows and oranges tend to come forward, making the cold colours recede. This is his way of creating space in his paintings, which are one-dimensional, like flat wayang puppets.
