Ball Programme

Thank you for joining us for TaverhamHall’s May Ball. We are looking forward towhat, I am sure, will be another trulyspectacular evening. Not only will youhave been treated to a welcome drinksreception, you will also be able to enjoy adelicious dinner provided by caterersRunning Duck Food Company. Inaddition, there will be music by London’sDixieland Jazz Masters, The Branflakes, supported by a disco. It gives meparticular pleasure to welcome backJerry Epton of The Branflakes who washere as a pupil from 1973. Full details ofall other entertainment and the order ofevents are included in this programme.

Taverham Hall is thriving; none of thiswould have been possible without thesupport of a fantastic parent body andthe dedication and commitment of thestaff to consistently provide anexceptional education in an idylliclocation.

We are delighted to confirm that thisyear the members of the DevelopmentCommittee's chosen project is a newMusic Recording and Composing Suite.Funds generated from the Ball will be puttowards this exciting new facility whichwill directly enhance the experience andbroaden the life of pupils at TaverhamHall even further.

The new suite will enable pupils tocreate music using state-of-the-artequipment. The equipment will supportthree main programmes which will allowchildren to access and develop creativemusic skills. The real advantage ofproviding this type of music technologyat Taverham Hall is that it will allow pupilsto really develop their skills and toproduce quality recordings of their work.Ensemble composing and performing

can also beenhanced and it willfurther develop thequest for our giftedand talentedcomposers to beginindividualcomposing projects. This will put them ina very strong position for GCSE musicoptions at their next school. The suite willcomprise: 10 work stations for pupils (upto 2 pupils per work station) plus 1 workstation for teachers - each work stationwill have an iMac computer. There willalso be an Apple server, networkupgrade, colour laser printer, newSibelius software and upgrades andCuBase software.

This evening’s events include a raffleand both a silent and traditional auction, with some wonderful items for which youare encouraged to bid. Details of theauction lots can be found in ‘The Guide’.

I do recognise just how much hard workhas gone into the preparation for thisBall. Consequently, I am deeply gratefulto the Development Committee and theentire Ball Committee who have workedtirelessly in recent months.

A special thank you must also go to allthe generous sponsors of this year’s MayBall.

I do hope everyone enjoys amemorable evening.
