The Occitan dances are typical of the Occitan Valleys of Italy, especially of the mountain communities. They are an essential gathering place for the local community.
They are still ballads - mainly in the areas of Occitan Piedmont - in almost all festive occasions in the valleys.
Every valley has retained its own melodies and dances, different steps and patterns from those of the neighboring valleys.
The instruments used are the traditional ones, such as the accordion, clarinet, violin, hurdy-gurdy and the harmonica.
The flag of Occitania.
