BANDPROGRAM

BANDSCHOLARSHIPAPPLICATIONINSTRUCTIONS

The Tusculum College Music Department offers monetary scholarships and work study scholarships to deserving students of all majors. Scholarships require an audition (see below for specific requirements) and continued, consistent participation in the Tusculum College Band Program. Awards are made based on playing ability and the instrumentation needs for each ensemble and will be made by the middle of June. Incoming students must contact the Director of Music Programs to arrange an audition. All auditions must either be by an uploaded video submission or in person at an arranged time. Videos may uploaded after completing the on-line application, which can direct you to the upload section. Students are also required to submit at least two letters of reference. The letters of reference must be from a music director and another person of authority other than family members (i.e. - teachers, principals, pastors, employers) and can be submitted electronically as well. The audition,application and references need to be completed and received by May 6, 2015.

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

Wind Players 5 major scales (Student's choice - 2 or more octaves where appropriate) A full range chromatic scale Two prepared pieces of contrasting styles that demonstrate your best qualities as a musician.

Percussionists 5 rudiments (Long roll plus student's choice, Open-Closed-Open) or 5 major scales (Student's choice - 2 or more octaves where appropriate and the chromatic) Two prepared pieces of contrasting styles that demonstrate your best qualities as a musician from mallets, snare or timpani or any combination of the three.
