Bank of Bermuda Foundation Sir John W. Cox University Scholarship for Postgraduate Studies 2016Awarded annually to a Bermudian pursuing Postgraduate education overseas and is valued at BD$30,000 per annum, for up to four years.

The 2016 Bank of Bermuda Foundation Sir John W. Cox University Scholarship for Postgraduate Studies has been awarded to Kristyn Dale.

Kristyn will be pursuing a Doctor of Medicine specialising in emergency medicine. She will be attending Royal Crown College in Toronto for 2 months to take 3 courses and then in January 2017 will attend St. George’s Medical School in Grenada. Kristyn is passionate about making a difference in the lives of others. One of her most memorable accomplishments was when she was

selected as Head Girl at Bermuda High School. Kristyn’s goal is to acquire extensive scientific knowledge enabling her to practice medicine with both confidence and competence and she is excited for the possibilities that her future holds.

Bank of Bermuda Foundation Eldon H. Trimingham Business Post Graduate Studies Scholarship 2016Awarded annually to a Bermudian proceeding with post graduate business studies overseas and is valued at BD$30,000 per annum for up to two years.

The 2016 Bank of Bermuda Foundation Eldon H. Trimingham Business Scholarship for post graduate studies has been awarded to Danielle Lightbourn.

Danielle will pursue a 1 yr Masters in Human Resources and Consulting at Lancaster University this Fall. Her most memorable moment was when she completed a 160ft bungee jump in aid of Acorns Children’s Hospice in Worcester, England. Danielle believes that everyone deserves to feel passionate about their job and she hopes to make a change in that area. She hopes to

become a Human Capital Consultant within a global organization that understands the importance of employee engagement.

Bank of Bermuda Foundation Financial Services Scholarship 2016Offered as a commitment to advancing and developing Bermudians within the financial services industry in Bermuda. This scholarship is granted annually and is valued at BD$40,000, disbursed over the final two years of University.

This year’s winner is Norianna Gordon.

Norianna currently attends the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, where she is pursuing a Bachelors of Finance. Norianna is thankful for the work release opportunity she had with BF&M Insurance which confirmed her interest in the insurance and finance sector. Although Norianna has experienced many trials and tribulations she remains focused on achieving her goals. She hopes to become an Underwriter.

Bank of Bermuda Foundation Centennial Trust Scholarship 2016Bank of Bermuda Foundation Centennial Trust Scholarship is being offered to a student pursuing undergraduate studies overseas. It provides financial support of BD$12,000 per annum for up to 4 years.

This year’s winner is Jordan Bascome.

Jordan is off to Pennsylvania State University to pursue a degree in Veterinary and Biomedical Science. She recently completed nine months of Rotary Exchange in Venezuela where she was an ambassador for Bermuda and became fluent in Spanish. Jordan aspires to become a Veterinary surgeon for exotic wildlife. She also has an interest in dermatology.

Bank of Bermuda Foundation Sir Henry Tucker University Scholarship 2016Bank of Bermuda Foundation Sir Henry Tucker University Scholarship is awarded annually. The value of the Scholarship is BD$30,000. Its purpose is to provide a financial award for a period not exceeding four years to a student who has outstanding scholastic ability, leadership qualities, devotion to duty and fellowship, together with ability in athletic, cultural and other non-academic pursuits. The successful candidate must proceed with undergraduate studies on a full-time basis at an overseas university approved by Bank of Bermuda Foundation. He or she must be willing on completion of his/her studies to return to Bermuda and render service to the community.

The 2016 winner is Sophia Marshall.

Sophia will be attending London School of Economics International Programme to pursue Bachelors in Accounting and Finance. She enjoys participating in the Arts, particularly singing and performing. One of her most memorable accomplishments was raising over $2,000 for victims of the Nepal earthquake. She hopes to one day manage risk in the reinsurance industry and continue her learning journey.

Bank of Bermuda Foundation Sir Henry Tucker Scholarship Education Grants 2016Up to three Education Grants of BD$8,000 per annum are awarded annually to the three runners-up for a period not exceeding four years.

This year’s winners are Claire Conyers, Brianna Siddle and Ruskin Cave.

Claire will be pursuing a Bachelor of Medical Sciences and a Bachelors of Medicine and Surgery at University of Edinburgh. Claire is eager to embrace the challenges and rewards of a lifelong career in medicine. She plans to continue her extracurricular interests and volunteer work during that time and hopes to eventually return to Bermuda to work in a local practice or the hospital.

Brianna will be returning to University of Edinburgh where she is pursuing a degree in Social Policy & Law. Brianna is an Edinburgh University Rowing Novice Cox and has competed across the UK over the past year. One of her most memorable accomplishments was helping to build a house with Habitat for Humanity and the Bermuda Overseas Mission in Bolivia. She hopes to one day become involved in the Human Rights Commission in Bermuda.

Ruskin will pursue a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine at the Royal Veterinary School, University of London in September. Ruskin is an avid swimmer and has a long history volunteering with the Bermuda Aquarium Museum and Zoo as well as the Nonsuch Island Natural History Camp. He is heading to Italy this summer to participate in the Bridge World Junior Championships. Ruskin

aspires to complete his Veterinary Medicine degree, specializing in exotic and marine life.

Bank of Bermuda Foundation John D. Campbell Arts Scholarship 2016Awarded annually. Its purpose is to provide financial support of BD$30,000 per annum over a period not exceeding four years to a student who is proceeding with undergraduate studies in the arts on a full time basis outside Bermuda. The Scholarship is tenable at a university or other institution of higher education approved by the Scholarship Selection Committee of Bank of Bermuda Foundation.

The Scholarship is specifically for candidates studying Visual, Performing and Applied Arts including, but not limited to: (a) Visual Arts - drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, photography, video and filmmaking; (b) Performing Arts - dance, music, opera and theatre; (c) Applied Arts – architecture, industrial design, graphic design, fashion design, interior design and decorative art.

Bank of Bermuda Foundation John D. Campbell Arts Scholarship has been awarded to Malik Alick.

Malik will be returning to Concordia University in the Fall where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Jazz Studies. He hopes to transfer to McGill University in September 2017 to pursue Music Education/ Music Performance. Malik feels that music is deeply rooted in who he is and what he stands for. Malik is not setting any boundaries on his future job goals which include

becoming a music arranger, performer, minister with a later pursuit in teaching at university level.

Bank of Bermuda Foundation Donald P. Lines Award for Scholastic Achievement 2016Bank of Bermuda Foundation Donald P. Lines Award is granted annually. The purpose is to provide financial support for an initial period of one academic year to a student pursuing a degree overseas.

The Donald P. Lines Award is valued at BD$15,000.

The Donald P. Lines Award winner for this year is Precious Smith.

Precious will be returning to University of Buckingham where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Law degree. She completed the Legal Foundation Year at the University of Buckingham with first class honours and was the recipient of the Academic Achievement award. Precious is tenacious, disciplined and focused on achieving a good

education. She hopes to one day become a successful Corporate Lawyer.

Bank of Bermuda Foundation Chairman’s Awards for Scholastic Achievement 2016 Bank of Bermuda Foundation Chairman’s Awards for Scholastic Achievement are granted annually. Their purpose is to provide financial support for an initial period of one academic year to students who are pursuing a degree overseas. This year, the Foundation will present five awards.

The Chairman’s Awards are valued at BD$10,000 each.

The winners are Salina Maiato-Dill, Jordan Renfroe, Shalika Robinson, Imani Smith and Zoe Wright.

Salina is off to Mount Royal University where she will be pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in English. She has a passion for beach yoga and feels that discipline has helped shape who she is today. Salina hopes to become a teacher and teach English at Secondary School level.

Jordan is returning to Acadia where he is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Education. In 2012, he received Bermuda’s Outstanding Teen Performing Arts Award and was inspired to study and tutor at Acadia University where he attained a Bachelor’s in Music with a minor in History. Jordan has a passion and vision to introduce contemporary music education reform. He hopes to become a

proficient saxophonist, and educator and an instrument repair technician.

Shalika will be attending University of Ontario Institute of Technology to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Biological Science. She received the 2015 Belco Math Award upon graduating from Berkeley Institute, as a result of receiving the highest accumulative GPA in math. Shalika enjoys photography, sports and video games and has a passion for science. She hopes to

one day become a physician specializing in either Cardiology or Oncology.

Imani is off to Kingston University in England to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Mathematics and Statistics. She is most proud of maintaining an exceptional GPA at the Berkeley Institute while studying independently for her Associates Degree in General Insurance.

Zoe will be attending University of Bristol to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Management. Zoe achieved her Spanish GCSE at the age of 13 and takes great pride in being chosen for the Accounting, Spanish and Alumni Awards upon her graduation from Saltus. She enjoys giving back to the community through volunteering at KEMH and church. She hopes to become an Actuary.

Bank of Bermuda Foundation Vocational Awards 2016Bank of Bermuda Foundation is offering these Awards to young Bermudians to encourage him/her to go overseas and undergo a technical or vocational training programme. The Committee will focus on an applicant who is pursuing a vocation that is practical and needed in Bermuda including the trades, hospitality, mechanics, piloting, nursing, culinary arts, caregiving, landscaping, cosmetology, hairdressing.

This year’s winners are Eric DeSilva and Henria Brooks.

Eric is heading to Northampton College in the UK to pursue a Performing Engineering Operations course. Eric completed a certificate in motor vehicle technology at the Bermuda College and took a position as an apprentice at BELCO. He then decided to join the internship programme at the BELCO Power Plant to gain more experience in the

field. Eric hopes to pursue a career in Mechanical Engineering. Eric will receive BD$12,000 for 1 year.

Henria will be returning to Kingston College in England where she is pursuing a degree in Cosmetology. She has already completed the Level 2 and Level 3 Beauty Therapy Diplomas and looks forward to returning to complete the Level 2 and Level 3 hairdressing diplomas. She also aspires to obtain a Bachelor in Business Management. She hopes to one

day open her own salon and spa business. Henna will receive BD$12,000 per year for 2 years

Bank of Bermuda Foundation Joseph C. H. Johnson Scholarship 2016

Bank of Bermuda Foundation Joseph C. H. Johnson Scholarship is awarded annually to a student who is in his/her final year of secondary school in Bermuda and is valued at BD$30,000 per annum for up to 4 years. Candidates are nominated by their school Principal. One candidate is nominated from each school. The successful candidate must proceed with undergraduate studies on a full-time basis at Bermuda College or an overseas university approved by Bank of Bermuda Foundation. He or she must be willing on completion of his/her studies to return to Bermuda and render service to the community.

The 2016 Bank of Bermuda Foundation Joseph C.H. Johnson University Scholarship has been awarded to Taiyana Allen.

Taiyana will be heading off to Georgia State University to pursue a Bachelors in Business Administration with a major in actuarial science. Due to shear perseverance she was able to graduate with an Associates in Science with merit from the Bermuda College in 2014 prior to her graduating from CedarBridge Academy this year. She also received the Most Outstanding Actuarial

Science Graduate award for having the highest GPA. Taiyana hopes to become a fully-qualified Casualty and Property Actuary.

Bank of Bermuda Foundation Joseph C. H. Johnson Nominee Awards 2016

The Joseph C. H. Johnson Nominee Awards are presented annually to students who have been nominated by their school Principal for the Joseph C. H. Johnson Scholarship. The value of each award is BD$1,500.

The following students have been awarded Bank of Bermuda Foundation Joseph C. H. Johnson Nominee Awards for the academic year 2016: Skye Robinson-Bean, Zoe Wright, Channa James, Sydney Blee & Gabrielle Vincent.

Skye is off to University of Manchester to study Economics which will serve as the basis for establishing her career as an underwriter and/or qualified Data Analyst. She is very proud of achieving the highest level in Economics for her International Baccalaureate Diploma.

Zoe will be attending University of Bristol to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Management. Zoe achieved her Spanish GCSE at the age of 13 and takes great pride in being chosen for the Accounting, Spanish and Alumni Awards upon her graduation from Saltus. She enjoys giving back to the community through volunteering at KEMH and her church. She hopes to become an actuary.

Channa will be attending Southern Adventist University to pursue a Bachelor’s in Biology and Business. Channa is most proud of the fact that she has owned her own business and graduated from high school. She is a kind, compassionate individual who hopes to one day become Bermuda’s first Forensic Pathologist.

Sydney is off to Kings University College this Fall to pursue a degree in Catholic studies and English Literature. She wants to be a positive role model for students and help them reach their potential. Sydney hopes to become a teacher.

Gabby will be attending University of Chester in September, where she will be studying sport and exercise sciences along with psychology. She has had the opportunity to represent Bermuda at the Bermuda Gymnastics Island Games in 2013 and 2015 achieving both bronze and gold medals. Upon receiving her doctorate in sports psychology, she hopes to open a private practice in Bermuda.

Bank of Bermuda Foundation Financial Need Awards 2016

The value of these awards is BD$15,000. This year’s winners are Doreen Burgess and Angelle Byron.

Doreen is currently attending Kean University where she is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration. She enjoys helping people and hopes to help her community once she becomes a Health Inspector. One of her biggest steps in life was moving overseas with her son to attend university. Doreen is a dedicated, focused and eager individual who is keen to come back and help the Bermuda community.

Angelle will be attending Union College in the Fall to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She is a very driven young lady who spent her last years of high school caring for her grandmother and continuing to maintain her school work. She hopes to one day become a nurse practitioner and return to Bermuda to help her community.
