INVITATION TO STAGE 2 & 3 SPECTACULAR :
“Snapshot of Australia”
TUESDAY 20 AUGUST: MATINEE 12:00 (NO LIMIT
ON TICKETS ORDERED)
TUESDAY 20 AUGUST: EVENING 6:30PM: Tea/Coffee
will be on sale from 6:00pm.
Every student in Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 will have a role in our
school performance. A second ticket note and ordering form
was sent home yesterday sharing the change of ticketing
arrangements with a ticket order form.
Program/Admission will be $2. There will be two ticket
round offers. Round 2 is now open: Parents are welcome to
purchase any number of tickets available until sold this
week. Families will still be able to sit together regardless,
because the seating will not be numbered. The hall has limited
seating capacity. It is
unlikely that there will be
any tickets available at the
door on the night. Please
organise tickets ahead of
time to avoid
disappointment.
We encourage parents to
bring the extended family
to the matinee performance.
All funds raised support the cost
of the performance and
equipment.
Our Junior K-2 Performance will
be on Tuesday 10
September 2013!
LIFE EDUCATION: HEALTH AND ANTI-DRUG
PROGRAM
This week students have been working with the Life
Education Program. This is an investment in preventative
drug education. The program is designed to promote healthy
choices through developing knowledge about the human
body.
KINDERGARTEN 2014
Have you enrolled your Kindergarten child for 2014? To
assist us in preparing for our new enrolments for 2014,
we request that all prospective and current parents of
Kindergarten children starting school in 2014 to contact the
school. Children need to be a minimum of five years of age
before the 31st July 2014 to be eligible to enrol. Children
must also be formally enrolled in primary school by their 6th
birthday.
PLAYGROUND INITIATIVES
Our school is constantly exploring initiatives that actively
engage students in all of their learning domains. This week,
Mrs Dubokovich initiated Bush Dancing in the COLA as
part of the lunch time program. Students were welcome to
voluntarily participate in dancing to promote fun, laughter
and to provide something new in our playground! Last
week, the Southern Highland News was so impressed that
they asked to write an article to promote our positive
playground program. Just like the classroom, we are
focused on creating a dynamic play environment with a
range of activities that engage our children and cater for
different interests and needs. Some examples of changing
playground activities include:
SRC student lead competitions such as handball and
basketball
SRC Welfare coordinating playground art/craft or
guessing competitions
Skipping (ropes) on the plaza
Fixed equipment play for strength: all grades are
timetabled for one day a week
Handball, hopscotch and line marking activities
Sandpit and sand pit toys for all ages
Music for
dancing
Teacher/or
parent sport
training e.g.
softball, high
jump in the last
week
Student
initiated ball games e.g. touch footy,
cricket, soccer
Digging or working in the Eco Garden each
Monday
SRC coordinating sport equipment loans from the
sport shed
Supported play for students with special needs
Quiet activities include reading, board games and
chess in the library or outdoor chess
Students are participating in the Premier’s Sporting
Challenge and are encouraged to be active and to
record their level of activity
Student play such as chasings, chatting and building
friendships!
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
From time to time, families experience financial hardship.
Parents are welcome to discuss financial assistance for text
books, excursions and special activities with Mrs Quist or
Mrs Swanbury. Feel free to ring or download an
application form from the school website in the ‘Notes and
Excursion’ top menu bar of the school website. Parents are
welcome to ring the school and chat confidentially on
48894250.
HELP US TO HELP YOUR CHILD: Return the new
medical forms
This is a gentle but very important reminder folks. We need
to update our medical records with this new information.
Please, make yourself a cuppa, and share some of your
precious time to complete these forms and return them to
school as soon as possible.

under cover outside Mrs Boatwright’s wet area. What a
great idea! Dry and secure!

The Gymnastics program ends this week. All students
have enjoyed this fantastic program with expert gym teachers and lots of great equipment.
Our Regional athletics competitors are training hard
to get ready for the Athletics carnival in Canberra on Friday 23rd August. Good luck everyone!
The gala day for Term 3 has always been touch
football, but this year it will be slightly different. It will be called league tag, and will be similar to oz tag,
with students wearing a velcro belt with several tags hanging down. To make a touch defenders have to
pull one of the tags off and throw it on the ground.
The attacker then plays the ball from where the tag is. Notes will come out shortly for any students in
years 3-6 who wish to attend. It is for girls and boys, and girls in particular are encouraged to attend. It is
a non-competitive day with the focus on having fun and learning new skills.
The countdown
continues for Emily Cox as she trains hard for
the state softball championships in week
7. Good luck Emily.

HAROLD MERCHANDISE
Dear Parents
Life Education NSW is a not for profit
community-based organisation that relies
heavily on the raising of funds within the
community to assist in meeting the
shortfall left after receiving minimal
assistance from Government Funding
The sale of Harold merchandise to the
children whilst the program is visiting
each school supports the fundraising
activities of local committees and all
proceeds support Life Education within
each local area. These products help to
remind children about the messages
delivered to them during their Life
Education session and have either a
picture of Harold or the Life Education
logo on them.
The educator will provide the
opportunity for children to purchase
these products during the school visit.
Please provide the correct money in an
envelope with the item written on the
face of the envelope along with your
child's name and class.
FOR A SAFER, SMARTER LIFE
