NAPLAN ONLINE
By the end of this week, every student in Year 3 and 5 will have sat an ‘Omnibus’ test which is a practice test
involving a combination of reading, numeracy and language conventions. Of course these are done online and are a test of our internet connectivity. Every school
across Australia will do NAPLAN online by 2020.
There are two main benefits:
- Students are more engaged with the online platform (note: Year 3 still complete the writing with pencil and paper).
- Schools receive the results within three weeks which informs our teaching.
NAPLAN will occur from May 14th till May 24th.
UPDATE ON CONSTRUCTION OF NEW BUILDING
The construction of the new building is expected to start in approximately 8 to 10 weeks. We will keep you
informed of future updates.
GELATO DAY
On Monday 8th April, Stage 3 are holding a Gelato Stall to support their learning in history and science. All
students are welcome to buy a gelato at a cost of $3 per serve. This will be a fundraiser for ‘Year 6 Funday’ and
Farewell.
COLES CRUNCH ‘n’ SIP
On Monday 8th April, Banksia Rd students will receive their Crunch 'n' Sip, a donation from our local Coles
supermarket. Every student will be encouraged to take 1 - 2 pieces of fruit to encourage healthy eating habits. As
such, parents and caregivers do not need to provide Crunch 'n' Sip for their child(ren) on that day. The school
would like to thank Coles Greenacre for their generous
donation and continued support over the years.

TERM 2 FUNDRAISER ROHINGYA CAMP
We will raise money during the month of Ramadan
(approx. 5th May till 4th June) and for the remainder of
Term 2.
After discussions at the P & C meeting we have decided to once again raise funds for those who are less
fortunate.
We will raise money for the Rohingya camp in
Bangladesh (the largest refugee camp in the world). Over 50% of these are children. Having fled Myanmar,
they are forced to live in difficult conditions. Banksia Road Public School students, staff and parents think it's a suitable program for a school fundraiser, as it
promotes the right to an education even in the most dire
of circumstances.
