THE GREATEST RISK OF ALL IS ALWAYS WHEN FUELIS BEING TRANSFERRED DURING REFUELLING.

Banlaw Pipeline's patented systems use both Dry-Break and Quick-Fill technologies, coupling both the supply source and recipient vehicle or storage tank together into a sealed delivery network. Each system is custom fitted to suit every application. Using the Banlaw refuelling system, it is possible to achieve refuelling rates of between 120 and 1000LPM (32 to 265GPM). No splashing. No foaming. No spillage. Reliable operation. Reduced downtime.

HOW DOES BANLAW ADDRESS THESE RISKS?

Banlaw Pipeline provide systems covering:

Banlaw Refuelling System

The Banlaw refuelling system is the basis of the three systemsoffered by Banlaw Pipeline. The system incorporates both dry- break and quick-fill technologies into its equipment, ensuring fuel is transferred in a sealed, safe and efficient manner. It incorporates nozzles and nozzle anchors, receivers and receiver caps, tank vents, receiver shells, drop tubes, break-away valves, hose swivels, operation signs, pumps and fuel hose. The system ensures your refuelling operation is performed in a manner which represents “world best practice” in both environmental and human safety. The Banlaw refuelling system - setting the standard in refuelling equipment. The system has been designed to minimise the risks associated with refuelling. The “dry-break” technology incorporated into the nozzle, receiver and break-away valve, ensures fuel will flow only when mating parts are properly connected in a sealed and secure manner. This means no spillage, no splashing and no wastage.

The term “quick-fill” is not misleading, as the Banlaw refuellingsystem offers refuelling rates up to 1000LPM (265GPM) whilst maintaining the highest standards of safety and reliability. The current trend to increase the efficiency and reduce the downtime of refuelling makes the Banlaw refuelling system the sensible choice for your application.

The Banlaw refuelling system has been designed to be flexible. This flexibility extends to the ability to vary the level of tank pressurisation by the choice of up to 5 spring settings within the refuelling nozzle. No matter what your application, Banlaw has the solution.

Zero Tank Pressurisation

Banlaw Pipeline offer both electronic and hydraulic level sensingsystems. Unlike traditional quick-fill refuelling systems, both level sensing systems require no tank pressurisation to effect nozzle shut-off and thus terminate the flow of fuel into the tank

The hydraulic system incorporates the “Hydrau-Flo” valve and afloat sensor within the tank to detect when the tank is full. Once the float sensor has closed the Hydrau-Flo valve is also forced to close, thus closing the quick-fill refuelling nozzle.

The Banlaw “FillSafe™” (zero pressure) level sensing systemuses reliable solid state electronics to detect when the tank is full, and promptly closes the fuel supply by either the use of an inline solenoid valve or pump control relay.

The option of either system creates a number of benefits:

* Fully compatible with existing quick-fill refuelling equipment, whilst FillSafe™ is also compatible with splash-fill systems

* Tanks do not need to be designed to withstandpressurisation, thus weigh less and are less expensive tomanufacture

* Level sensing provides reliable and consistent fuel levelswithin a tank, thus preventing the overfilling of tanks andsubsequent spillage of fuel from tank vents

* FillSafe™ operates independently of flowrate and otherrefuelling parameters, meaning the system provides the samebenefits in all applications

* In the event of a system malfunction within either system, the existing quick-fill equipment acts as a back-up and thusensures the refuelling operation is completed without furtherincident

Fuel Monitoring

The Banlaw FuelTrack™ fuel monitoring system providesaccurate monitoring of fuel usage for each vehicle or other piece of equipment. Its modular design means it can be tailored to suit any application or budget, whilst still maintaining its inherent accuracy and dependable performance.

Unlike other fluid monitoring equipment offered bycompetitors, FuelTrack™ is designed to complement existing refuelling equipment. In fact, the system can use this equipment to transfer data from the recipient vehicle to the service vehicle or depot. The electronic link between the two points is achieved by hardware installed within the delivery hose, making the system unobtrusive and virtually tamper-proof.

FuelTrack™ offers many advantages, including:

* Vehicles /equipment are automatically identified by thesystem, thus eliminating the risk of human error if requiredto manually enter information.

* The details of any fuel delivered are recorded, allowing bothspillage and theft to be easily identified.

* The duration of the refuelling operation is recorded, allowingdowntime to be monitored and reduced where necessary.

* The system cannot be overridden, unless an authorised PINis manually entered. This PIN and the details of the refuelling operation are recorded for future reference andaccountability.

• Eliminates spillage and over filling - both during travel andat the filling point.

• Increases tank capacity – by eliminating foaming, the tankcapacity is maximised. This ensures less refills, and extendsmachinery operation times.

• Faster refuelling - means less refuelling downtime. Lessvehicle queuing. Less time wasting, and downtime.

• Reduced pilferage - no fuel will flow if nozzle and receiverare not connected. No non-authorised vehicles can be filled. No syphoning is possible from the vehicle or hose.

• Ground contamination is eliminated - and the fire risk. Fuel refuelling points become ‘clean’ areas, as minimal fuel can bespilled.

• Increased Operator Safety - the Banlaw Pipeline system is aone man refuelling operation, and the operator can remain atground level rather than climbing onto tanks. This increasesoperator safety.

• Automatic shutoff - once the tank is filled, fuel flow isautomatically shut off, allowing operator to do routine oil andvehicle safety checks, without worrying about the fueloverflowing!

• Faster fill - fuel filling is done under pressure, with the nozzledesign allowing high flow rates but with low shut off pressure.

• Better tank design - traditional fuel tanks are often open tothe air, or have inadequate cap seals and simple overfilldrainage holes. In contrast, the Banlaw Pipeline system is asealed system, eliminating this fuel loss both in a stationaryposition and in transit.

Banlaw Refuelling System has 4 key advantages' with its 4 WAY SAFETY NOZZLE.

1) Ball locking secures the nozzle to the receiver more safelythan other nozzles

2) Fuel will only transfer when the nozzle is correctly connectedto the receiver and the nozzle is turned on

3) Fuel will not spill if the nozzle becomes accidentallydisconnected from the receiver even when the pump andnozzle are turned on and the hose pressurised

4) The dry-break, quick connect nozzle means a safer workplaceand cleaner environment

When used in conjunction with Fillsafe™, the BanlawRefuelling System is the safest refuelling system in the world. It provides a primary zero pressure cutoff backed up by the traditional Banlaw Refuelling System pressurised cutoff system.

THE BANLAW PIPELINE SYSTEMS OFFER CONSIDERABLE ADVANTAGES ....

Tracking the fuel flow and the dollars!

With any large fleet of equipment, be they Haulage trucks, excavators, locomotives, buses, or trucks, there can be wide differences in fuel usage due to operating conditions, different load factors, engine efficiencies, operating time and operator's driving technique.

The Banlaw Pipeline Fueltrack™ system enables fuel usage tobe tracked by vehicle, and is an integral element in effective overall fleet management, allowing accurate monitoring at where fuel costs occur. This assists in the forward planning of maintenance schedules, stock reconciliation, off road fuel tax claims and fuel security. This is one of the key advantages of the Fueltrack™ system over conventional methods.

Fueltrack™ system can:1. Be monitored and maintained from a remote location

allowing the client or Banlaw to keep an eye on it to detectany problems and have them fixed as soon as possible

2. The transaction data can be integrated into the clientsexisting management systems.

3. Only FuelTrack™ can guarantee that only the registeredvehicles be allowed fuel. No vehicle ID, No Fuel! However, thesupervisor can authorise the override of the automaticsecurity to allow a vehicle with a damaged ID chip to refuelthus ensuring productivity.

Every fuel dollar saved is a dollar earned.

Traditional refuelling and lubrication systems rely on the tank being pressurised and the fill nozzle sensing that the tank is full from the pressure built up. While effective, the system is not failsafe, and overfilling and spillage can occur, particularly at the critical point where the tank is filled.

The FillSafe™ system provides a fail safe and reliable methodof terminating the flow of fuel into the tank once full, rather than the need to pressurise the tank to effect nozzle shut-off.

The FillSafe™ ZP System uses a level sensing assembly and‘transmitter’ unit mounted on the vehicle, which is battery powered from the vehicle, and a ‘receiver’ unit located near the filling nozzle, as well as a solenoid valve in the fluid delivery line.

The FillSafe™ System can be set up two ways. Firstly, as theonly zero pressure level sensing device or secondly, as the primary zero pressure shutoff device backed up by the pressurised Banlaw Refuelling System to form a safer double shutoff system. Using both systems simultaneously will ensure almost zero spillage, safer refuelling and less stress and longer life on the vehicle fuel tank.

The benefits of using Banlaw Pipeline FillSafe™ ZP System are• No tank pressurisation• Accuracy of fill and reliability in FillSafe™ ZP primary system,

plus the additional security of a secondary pre-existingBanlaw or pre-existing Banlaw (or similar) Refuelling System

• Zero spillage from tanks, and therefore no risk• Fully automatic

• Safety – with flow rates up to 1000litres/minute (265 USGallons/minute)

• Compatibility – the FillSafe™ ZP system can be integratedwith such systems as the Banlaw Refuelling System

Banlaw Pipeline’s LubeCentral™ control system has been designed to minimise ‘grease and oil’ service times.

Typically a vehicle will use oils in its crankcase, hydraulics, transmission, steering, as well as coolants. Each fill and drain point will be located differently causing the operator to climb onto, under or over the machine to complete services.

The LubeCentral™ system links all of these service pointstogether to a single service box with all inlet points located at one point on the vehicle, which is easily accessible at ground level by service personnel. This service box with its own dry break receivers is then linked by service line hoses to each fill and evacuation service point, so that filling new oils and evacuating used oils can be completed at the one service box location rather than several. Service times are dramatically cut, and the job is made far easier, with less risk for error or omission.

Oil and grease cannot be put into the wrong compartmentsbecause of LubeCentral’s unique fittings designed for each fluid type. The LubeCentral™ system needs to be custom fitted to each vehicle. All quick connect, dry break couplings have been specially designed for, and are capable of high flow rates while working under low operating pressures. The couplings, hoses and other fittings are designed to withstand rugged treatment in use, and are given protective housings where necessary.

The major benefits of the LubeCentral™ system are :• Prevent mixing of incompatible fluids• Better fleet service routines and management• More complete servicing.... less errors or omissions

• Increased workplace safety, and better working conditions • Eliminates the need to carry heavy oil cans over machines• Cleaner engine bays and service centres• Cost savings through better use of mechanics and service

personnel• Complete recovery of waste oil means total recycling and

accurate waste recovery records• Reduced service times – up to 50% saving on time• Faster vehicle turnaround time• Elimination of spillage both during evacuation and filling

While Banlaw Pipeline is largely a manufacturing organisation, our Technical Advisors spend a great deal of time working in the field, in mines, rail yards, transport depots, workshops, ports and wherever large equipment and transport vehicles are being operated.

While every plant and site is different, and every problem notquite the same, the experience we have built up over twenty five years, means that we have the knowledge as to where to look for problems, as well as solve them.

With every mining and industrial work site now under scrutinyby environmental groups, Government bodies, unions and other groups in relation to work practices, environmental issues and safety, it is imperative to treat these issues very seriously. Ignoring or deferring decisions in relation to these issues does not make the decision go away! It could simply result in greater fines, injury and increased costs.

Banlaw Pipeline can provide a complete site audit on actual fuelusage and work place practices in relation to fuel handling.

These refuelling audits cover such things as:• Refuelling equipment type, usage and installations• Operator handling procedures• Maintenance procedures• Workshop setups and practices• Usage documentation• Fuel consumption• Fuel inventory• Stock reconciliation• Refuelling equipment failure

And specific issues such as:• Why injuries occurred• Spillage and environment issues• Flow rates and line pressures at fixed and mobile facilities• Equipment breakages and weak spots• Unsafe work practices• Other specific problems• Poor system setup• Potential site refuelling hazards

Invariably, the audit is the first step to identifying potential risksbut also potential savings that can be generated through better fuel usage practices.

Once a problem is identified, the solution is far easier to define.

Our advice is practical, complete and our aim is to give theright advice, and where possible save you money in the process.
