Objective
bar-positurn is a module of the Valve-Control System bar-
vacotrol. It can be mounted on all actuators with NAMUR
interface acc. VDI/VDE 3845. bar-positurn is a cost-effec -
tive and robust electro-pneumatic positioner especially
for pneumatic quarterturn-actuators. This comes against
a background that increasing numbers of „Quarterturn
Valves“ are being used for regulating tasks.
Uses
! The bar-positurn is a compact positioner for quarter turn
valves
! bar-positurn offers an optimum cost-effectiveness,
by focussing on functions which are relevant
for this valve-type
! The special operational safety, among others, is gua-
ranteed by the digital opto-electronic angle measuring
system
! Operation is easy and is limited to the points:
- Initialization
- Adapting to the rotational direction of the actuator
- Choice of signal type (4 - 20 mA or 0 - 10 V)
! Binary electrical signals for both end positions and an
analogue signal for position feedback are standard
! All safety functions are available by the valve variations
D, S and E (see page 4)
! The positioning speed of the actuator can be adapted
to the process demands by throttles in the control valve
! bar-positurn can also be used as position encoder or
as self-initialising end position indication for
ON/OFF-valves
! Low energy cost, as there is no constant loss of air
Range of Application
The bar-positurn Þ nds application in the following:
- Butterß y valves for inß ow and outß ow in Þ lters for
water treatment plants
- Exhaust gas butterß y valves in furnaces
- Air valves on ventilators
- Dosing tasks
- Regulating tasks in process technology
Function
bar-positurn is a 3-point-positioner in 4-wire technology.
Power supply with 24V DC is required. It is applicable to
actuators with NAMUR interface using brackets or directly
on actuators of type actubar. The position regulation takes
place – each acc. to safety demands – via special control
valves, which are connected with the NAMUR interface.
The pivoting angle is measured by a digital opto-electronic
position sensor.
The theoretical value is to be speciÞ ed as an analogue
signal.
The processor compares theo. and act. values and drives
the solenoid valve. In the current-free middle position the
actuator is blocked pneumatically. The position of the
valve is determined via the position indicator. The bar-
positurn-cover offers 4 LED’s pointing outwards, displaying
the following modes:
- Ready
- Modus for Initialization
- Right end position reached
- Left end position reached
